(Editor’s note: From Ace Combat to Tekken, everyone’s got at least one videogame tune stuck in their heads. Enter Liner Notes: a Pixelitis feature in which our writers discuss their favorite videogame music.)
So I have to come clean. I have a ridiculous borderline obsession with Katamari Damacy. I mention it at least once a day, probably at least once every other podcast and I rarely go a day without listening to the music. While the first game’s music holds a soft spot in my heart, We Love Katamari or in Japanese, Minna Daisuki Katamari, is unparalleled musical genius.
If you don’t feel the sheer joy and excitement that this music brings, you’re already dead on the inside. From the opening swing dance swoops of “Katamari on the Swing” by Shigeru Matsuzaki to the laidback bossa nova beats of “Houston” by Katamari Robo (a Namco composition), there’s always a song to put you in the right mood to roll up unsuspecting animals, people and huge buildings. It’s an auditory indulgence that soothes any fears you have about bringing unprecedented destruction to the people in the galaxy.
And you know what? The people in this sequel want you to roll them up, therefore the royal “we” are absolved from any guilt tied to this mass of humanity that is a Katamari.
So get comfy, grab a drink and dive into the feel good vibes in my list of favorite jams from We Love Katamari.

Immersed Gamer writes: "Let Me Solo Her is a legendary Elden Ring player who mastered one of the most infamous bosses to help his fellow tarnished via co-op. And for his service, he received an award from Namco Bandai to commemorate his 1,000th victory. The reward in question is a real, and extremely dope, custom-made sword.
Malenia is regarded as the hardest boss in Elden Ring, and the relentless Tarnished has defended literally thousands of hosts against this malice. Let Me Solo Her apparently passed 2,000 Malenia kills a while back, but it’s hard to measure the exact count he is at now. Bandai Namco sent the gift his way when he was at around 1,000 kills. But due to the nature of the object, it got stuck in customs for a while!"
Nice to see an healthy online behavior to be recognize by the dev teams.
But man.... How many hours did he spent playing Elden Ring? Not sure it's that healthy in real life 😂
But still kuddo to him :)
Laced Records has teamed up with Bandai Namco for the release of a triple vinyl-set featuring music from retro-classics Tekken Tag Tournament & Tekken 4.
TTT is one of my all time favorite games, but I always found its soundtrack to be terrible. I'd mute the music and put my own on.
We recently played Wattam, but we also got to speak with one of its creators, Keita Takahashi, who is most known for Noby Noby Boy and Katamari Damacy. He spoke to us about poop, his embarrassment over his work, and more.
A developer daring to be different. I hope this game is good. I really enjoyed his Katamari games.
Really weird and super sucks Sony canceled them, especially given their history of patience with even the most niche games. Glad it survived through all that, going the extra mile to support it and grabbed the special edition physical release with the vinyl soudtrack.
It’s almost like he is asking for reassurance regarding poop being funny.
Well, it is. Just in the right quantities.
