Mass Effect 2: Will Stay Exclusive To 360 "At Least In The Home Console Sense"

Even though the first concrete images or information are long in arriving, Matt Atwood (PR Manager, Bioware) has affirmed and clarified to us that Mass Effect 2 will remain exclusive on the Xbox 360, at least in "the universe of the consoles of the living room."

It's not really too surprising considering how even Ubisoft couldn't make Haze multiplatform. So even EA could keep the developer's relations good by respecting Bioware's requests to keep Mass Effect exclusive to the 360.

And personally it doesn't make much sense to PS3 owners either way even if they get Mass Effect 2 seeing as how most of them never played the first one.

There was an article speculating that this game could possibly go multi and go on the PS3 as well, there were many people stating that they would deinately buy this game.

Bottom line, there will e some games that will go mult plat, but not the big titles that were already released this gen or already locked in. Games like MGS4, ME2, Gears of War 2, RFOM 2, etc. There are games hat did go multi plat, like GTA4 and DMC, but these moves were done before this gen even started.

Not really related to PS3 titles, but rather to JRPG's. Morrowind Oblivion are some of my favorites. Endless choices, not having to eatch cut scene after cut scene, good graphics, no linear, and the list goes on. I do not like JRPG's like I used, Morrowind switched me.

Wow superior, how do you come to that conclusion. Remember that persons PC has to have enough power to run these games, if not they have to buy a new one or upgrade, which will come to more than any of the consoles currently in production. Secondly most of these games re games for Windows.

your pc, like most others cant run ME or ME2 as good as my 360, but mabe you spend alot of money every year to make your comp great. I also believe that 360 is currently selling much better than it did at this same time last year. Also playing on a tiny monitor with keyboard and mouse, no thanx. If you get it on pc you should by a usb 360 controler so you can at least have some good controls.

Having a PC that can play videogames has nothing to do with console exclusivity.

The point is that if you buy another *CONSOLE* you'll not be playing these games. PC != Consoles.

Besides, who the f wants to sit in the home-office and play a game on a keyboard/mouse on a desk-chair? Videogames are a whole-family entertainment these days.

I paid 699€ for my PC a while a go. 4gb DDR2 ,500gbHDD ,AMD Athlon x2 [phone]GT + turbocache ,vista. Its a good comp with a little outdated graphics card but it will run ME. I can run UT3 and Gears with no problems and the empty enviroments of ME should be easy to handle.
And no i dont live at my parents house, maby if you would get a job you could afford things like a better PC,1080p TV, ps3 and stop whining and dissing stuff just because your parents dont give you enough cash....

Also 699 euro is about $1200 to $1400 USD. A lot of people without that kind of money will just buy a console for a fraction of that price and be completly happy. Oh, I own a older $3800 Alienware comp and and a newer $2500(built by me) computer. I also own all three current consoles, a Nintendo DS and PSP, along with 5 actual arcade games, and more. I currently live in Germany I make bout 11 to 15% more than my European counterparts (electronic Engineers I know becuase there have been several company meetings that will either decide whether my pay and other americans will drop to match or raise our European counterparts. Thats my peronal experience. I will say this, the eueo was created to try to stregnthen the econmomies across Europe. Sonce you said Europeans I will lump all the EU countries together. Americans pay less and Europens pay more becuase the American economy is stronger than Europe's. I will say there is a country with an exceptional economy, but like I said you said Europe, so I will not single them out. The Euro was supposed to help with creating a currency that was stronger thn the dollar, but in turn in Germany it has cuase a 30% unemployoment rate, 30 plus %. They have a sales tax of 19%!. On average I think with the conversion ratio the pay is equivelant between the two. If you look at nations like Spain, Portugal, Poland, etc for example there pay is vastly lower than americans, so most stats say Americans make more.

4. PC's are more versitile, but not eveyone is looking for that. Most people want to sit down in front of a 40 to 80" TV and push a button and strt playing. They do not want to worry about some games not playing on their PC or having to upgrade every year or two. Remember most people who own PC's are not gamers. People are starting to say PC gaming is dying. I do not think so, but it is declining this gen. I still love PC gaming.

I have to play the game to know what the general consensus of how good the game is? The fact is that it has lower reviews than bioshock, halo, and gears and it doesn't sell as many copies or as many systems. So in the grand scheme of things this isn't a huge blow to the PS3.

By the way I do have a new unopened copy of Mass Effect.

ME was a victim of its own grandeur the picking apart of some flaws spread like wildfire. ME scoring lower than those games you mentioned have nothing to do with it not being a stellar title its doing good for a title that doesn't have Multi player replay value Xbox gamers have grown to love and expect.

It may not be a huge blow to Sony but its a blow to the Sony fanboys wishing it would come to PS3, now if thats because of spite or not is a different story.

I agree Mass Effect is a good game and I wouldn't mind it on the PS3, BUT its funny how you and a few others are always going on and on about the metacritic scores and how that makes a game great, then you defend ME for saying its a great game despite the reviews (which it is). The problem is you can't throw the review scores out the window only when it suits you or your system. I personally think reviews are subjective and only to be taken with a grain of salt, as I prefer to make my own decision.

This game will highly likely end up on PS3. Its not up to the devs u know. The devs job is to make the game. The publishers make the decision whether to make it exclusive or not and that has a lot to do with getting paid from console manufacturers. If the devs don't feel comfortable developing for a certain console because they lack the knowledge, the publisher will find other Devs, its as simple as that.

Mass Effect 2 will be coming to PLAYSTATION® 3. XBox 360 is on a sharp decline so it makes perfect business sense to port this to PS3 in order to maximize profits and recoup development costs. Even still, regardless if Mass Effect gets ported to PS3 or not, it's certain that the XBOX 360 version will be filled with more bugs, frame rate hiccups and jaggies than before.

Probably due to Bioware being unable to make a decent game due to Xbox 360's trash hardware.

For me ME is worth a purchase of a 360 on its own. Looks like 360 is the home for the western rpg. To any Ps3 supporters that are into rpgs i say jump in the water is lovely. Play ms games for 1/2 the price of a gaming pc. More money to spend on all the great games coming out on all the consoles.

Anyone else really excited about fable 2 for me its the game im looking forward to the most this year which is shocking to even me when you look at the giants that are coming out.

There is a reason that almost every single JRPG mimics Final Fantasy. WRPGs are about equal with more exclusives in the 360's favor. And you don't have to update you computer every year to play games, if that were the case, people would never buy new games because the hidden costs would make it impossible to afford.

Blue Dragon, the same, and included the art-direction from Akira Toriyama (Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger, Dragon Ball), Nobuo Uematsu, and Sakaguchi-san.

When you get FFXIII *IT* is a knock-off of the work done by people who have *LEFT* the project. The only thing that FF *IS* now is a cheap knock-off from SE to exploit the work of people who've gone on to do great things elsewhere.

Do you know how many people from the Final Fantasy X team are on the Final Fantasy XIII team? The fact that Final Fantasy X was such a freckon awesome master piece when Hironobu Sakaguchi took a far lesser role then he ever did for any Final Fantasy shows that Final Fantasy can survive without him.

Juezz I respect Hironobu Sakaguchi for all he did to the JRPG but Final Fantasy is a team of over 100 people who work their asses off too. They deserve way more credit than your giving them.

I don't really see the point of it coming to the PS3 anyway. Mass Effect is designed to be played as a trilogy. Sure you can start with ME2, but to get the true experience, you need to have your saved progress from ME1 on your HDD. That way, when you play ME2, you can truly see the consequences of your decisions in the first game.

As a PS3 fan I wouldn't have liked getting ME2 without ME1, wouldn't have worked for me. I would have liked the series being on PS3 too, even if time exclusives, but since it appears it won't happen I simply say good for the X360 fans and have fun with the game.

U knw that part in final fantasy 7?when u realise that Cloud had those memories,bt really it was Zacks?thts what ME dishd out thru the game.that suspence.mass effect rockd so much cuz it kept bringing those OMG moments. Like the part weather or nt to kill Saren.after Kaiden died,u thnk,next time I see Saren,he's dead.then u thnk,maybe he did try to help by joining soverign,and at the last moment, I didnt kill him. I'm surprized, really, this is not going multiplat. But, there is a definate advantage to that: Perhaps Bioware doesnt want to waste valuable time trying to code for the PS3 so they can get ME2 & ME3 done in this generation.

Maybe if they start programming for PS3 now it slows down the process of getting Mass Effect 2 out for the 360 in 2009, not to mention the conclusion of the Mass Effect trilogy in 2010 or 2011 (launch title for Xbox 3?). The same might be the case with Haze staying on PS3. It there wasn't a version for the other platform from jump than it may not be what the devs want to tackle later on. Remember, Bioware said from the beginning that Mass Effect was intended to start and finish on an Xbox....

to those of you who wondered if you will be able to play ME2 with your Shepard, as he/she was at the end of ME1. As a matter of fact, if you replay ME with your saved Shepard, you begin at the exp level you had when you finished the game. Then as you play again, your experience just continues to grow/improve. (I think there is a limit, I read that somewhere, I just forgot to level you max out). So if you finished Mass Effect, play it again, max out Shepard, use the maxed Shepard in any new D/L content (i.e. Bring down the sky, which is quite nice), and keep your save files. You will use them at the beginning of ME2. What a concept! This series is going to be great.

I don't know if anyone has said it yet, But it's funny when developers say stupid things. Not that BioWare is stupid, they seem to have forgotten just who the f*** they dealing with. EA will force them to port Mass Effect 2 to everything from the DS the 360 and PS3 and everything in between. That's what EA does.

Just because Kojima says its exclusive doesn't mean the publisher doesn't want more monies.

Only differences here:
Nothing on 360 can't be replicated on PS3, and improved
Kojima actually has say - and his own studio
Konami is not a notorious multiformat publisher like EA
Mass Effect 2 will sell better on PS3 than PC, so they WILL make the PS3 port.

So bioware devs are just not even trying to make their game the best it can be, while Kojima is hard at work optimising MGS4 for the most powerful console, the PS3.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. You PS3 owners aren't missing anything. Mass Effect is boring, frustrating, and akward. It has millions of technical issues and the graphics are terrible. Be glad that this abomination won't be tainting your PS3. PS3s are temples, and you shouldn't put trash in a temple.

Obviously whether or not a game is "good" is just a matter of opinion, so it's nothing more than my opinion that mass effect is the worst next-gen game ever made (I really believe that). But if mass effect WAS a PS3 exclusive it would never have gotten a metacritc rating above 90. Why? Because almost every reviewer for every video game magazine and website is a microsoft whore. All the good reviews that mass effect and halo 3 got were bought by microsoft, and the reviews were probably written by the microsoft PR staff beforehand and given to the magazines and websites. VIDEO GAME REVIEWS ARE COMPLETELY CORRUPT AND METACRITIC SCORES MEAN NOTHING. This corruption doesn't apply to every game, but it does apply to the big games that are microsofts babies. Games like halo 3 and mass effect. If people like mass effect then great, they are welcome to their opinion and I hope they enjoy their game, maybe mass effect it just over my head. But take those reviews and metacritc scores and BURN THEM. THEY MEAN NOTHING.

Mass Effect is trash.
The graphics are NOTHING compared to Uncharted or GT5Prologue, and the ratings are baseless. needs more 7.x to teach bioware a lesson about telling crap stories with crap controls, crap game systems and an unoptimised engine. The hype got to them.

Mass Effect was lacking any good or intriguing side quests. All are dull and boring and usually require you to just kill things. You would think that a galaxy sprawling with worlds would be teeming with things to do. Athkatla from Baldur's Gate, which is just one city compared to a galaxy, has hours upon hours of epic side quests that in total take longer to complete than all of what Mass Effect has to offer.

So if Mass Effect2 fixes that plus the boring characters it may be noteworthy. However they for sure will not fix the shooter gameplay. Top down strategy like in BG series and KOTOR is much better, especially considering the mass ammount of shooter games for the xbox. Changing it up would have made it much nicer to my collection. A real RPG type game. Oh and they should put some cities to explore and quest on all those planets instead of just boring rocks to scan...

What ever i'll still get the game lol. Just it could be waaay better.
