The Tales Of series are some of the best RPGs I've ever played, and the characters are a big reason for that. I don't think I played a single game in the series that I didn't enjoy. Rest in peace.

I love the Tales games. Phantasia will always be my favorite. Ironically I felt like as the series progressed the character design became too “anime cliche.”

Jeez first Yoshitaka Murayama died in Feb, then Akira Toriyama in early March, and now Mitsumi Inomata. Surely we're done with the depressing news for the rest of 2024, don't know if I can take any more.

Edit: shit I forgot about Yuji Nunokawa in December. Enough already!!! Those peoples' work combined is like my entire childhood!

Two great talented and memorable people are gone now. I always loved her style Xillia and Berseria are two of my favorite Tales games next to Arise. And Akira Toriyama passing is another great talent we have lost.

When it rains, it pours. As the loss of Toriyama is still fresh, now Inomata.

She was a damn good designer with a very distinct style that really goes beyond Tales and had been involved with many projects over her career. The cause of death is unknown at this time, but it is not uncommon for people to pass when they lose someone important in their lives. I have to wonder how Toriyama-san's passing affected her. The creative community in Japan seems very inspired by each other, noted most recently by the Dragonball tributes.

May she rest well.

Wow, she's actually worked on a lot of things I enjoyed (Gundam, City Hunter, Urusei Yatsura, The Tales Of games, etc...), her art is also really beautiful and unique (like a shoujo manga).
