Bioshock Infinite Review - JPS

"After having two adventures through the destroyed city of Rapture, Irrational Games has decided to give gamers another look at the world of BioShock, but this time we take to the skies in BioShock Infinite. With promises of a brand new gameplay experience, an entirely original storyline, a new companionship system, plus some unique powers, the game quickly caught the interest of fans and newcomers alike. While the first two BioShock titles were critically successful, can BioShock Infinite live up to the hype or did it fly too close to the sun?" - JPS

I really want to pull the trigger with all these great scores, but I am still afraid it might be over hyped.

Son_Lee4070d ago

It is overhyped, but don't let that derail you. It's still easily a 9/10 game and the best game released this year so far.

Mainsqueeze4070d ago

You might as well not play video games at all with that kind of mentality.

admiralvic4070d ago

Whats wrong with my "mentality"?

Mainsqueeze4070d ago (Edited 4070d ago )

Why not play the damn thing for yourself instead of worrying about what other people think. Only "hype" that should matter is your own. Many people think the games over hyped and many people absolutely love the game and think the hype is justified. It's not possible for everyone in the world to agree on things. The only way you will ever find out is if you play it for yourself and make your own judgement instead of being scared to play the damn thing because of what other people are saying.

admiralvic4070d ago

I think you're over thinking my reply... I want to play it, but am not sure if the game is worth (lets keep it simple here) $60 dollars or full MSRP. I do plan on playing it at some point, which is looking to be sooner than later...

Mainsqueeze4069d ago

My response was appropriate for your reply. Bottom line is if you have had hype for the game then you should buy it.

Suppose it was over hyped and the true score is somewhere in the mid-high 8. Is an mid-high 8 really a game not worth playing? Anyway, to each their own.

guitarded774070d ago

@ admiralvic

If you enjoyed the first Bioshock (who didn't?), then it's a safe purchase. Infinite isn't nearly as creepy, but it is equally as awesome. Some of the scores have been really high (like the 10/10's out there), but it really is a solid 9+. I think some people get carried away with the 10/10 scores, because there are no perfect games, but Infinite is the best game I've played so far this year. Hope this helps.

admiralvic4070d ago

Good to know, thanks for the reply! I might pick it up after work on monday.

Also 10/10 just means the flaws are so insignificant that they can be overlooked. I don't know any site that actually views a 10/10 as completely without any sort of flaw.

Crazyglues4069d ago (Edited 4069d ago )

I thought it was awesome, but I have a different view going in...

I loved bioshock 1 & 2 - so not sure what people were expecting but for me it was a fun ride...

Love the way they made Elizabeth, wish I could play more but it's over I beat it..

But it was an amazing game.. had a lot of fun.. - I wish I could have changed the ending, I would have like if... "oh but I don't want to spoil it for you..

Its a great game if you liked bioshock 1 you will love this one.. / If you felt bioshock 1 was not worth buying then you won't like this one, that's all it comes down too..

I know what you mean, i kinda have a hard time deciding if i wanna buy a singleplayer game for 60 bucks when im not sure it has enough content.

But man i've always loved bioshock so much, it was an easy pick for me.
The art, the story, the characters, the dept and most of all the atmospere that bioshock games have is amazing, and is back in infinite, but in a different way, and still a damn good way.

The story is as great as always, the character are as memorable as tenenbaum , andrew ryan or sander cohen.
And its ever deeper then before (yes deeper then rapture, while its in the sky! :P)

The atmosphere is amzing, really giving a feel your in the sky, and with the rail lines flying from place to place it almost look cinematic.

Deffinitly worth your bucks

Top 10 Rarest Xbox 360 Games That Are Worth a Fortune

"And lastly, famous Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling helped to create the action-RPG’s setting. What’s really fascinating, though, is that the game was partially financed by taxpayers from Rhode Island (which allegedly lost the state millions of dollars). Yikes!"

1. Now infamous Schilling
2. No allegedly, it did. And they couldn't pay it back.
3. What really lost the money wasn't the SP release but the MMO they were working on. This was supposed to be an introduction into the MMO world.

Soy299d ago

I hate counting limited editions for these lists. I mean, they're made to be rare and expensive. It's far more interesting to hear about the NCAAs (even if most people know that one already) and the El Chavos than some massive hit that came with a $200 statue at retail.

gamerz298d ago

Me too. Here's the best I can do:

El Chavo Kart $90.14
NCAA Football 14 $87.72
Spiderman: Edge of Time $75.94
Spiderman Web of Shadows $75.09
Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions $67.76

Christopher298d ago

Wow, El Chavo Kart is not at all what I expected by the name. 100% looks like a Sackboy Kart game.

Soy298d ago

It's so odd that so many Spider-Man games are seemingly given lower print runs, even if they're not the best games.

jznrpg298d ago (Edited 298d ago )

Most Xbox games don’t hold as much value compared to other systems. Kameo, Blue Dragon, Last Remnant , and a handful or 2 of other games that I kept.

Fallout 3 and Bioshock Infinite are the rarest games of all time.

8 Best Games Set In A Multiverse

One of the biggest TV and movie tropes in the last decade has been the multiverse, the idea of exploring multiple dimensions to uncover alternate versions of existing ideas. From both a business and creative perspective, it makes sense why established franchises are shaking things up in this way.

However, there aren't many video games latching on to this trend, as rendering multiple worlds in real-time is a difficult feat and the medium is relatively young in comparison to its contemporaries, making crossover opportunities more difficult. Still, there are a few great titles that manage enough to overcome these challenges, and here are some of the best examples.

While I love someone mentioning Planescape, not really multiverse. Planes and dimensions, yes. But, they are typically their own locations and are very rarely tied to another 'verse' let alone another plane. The only things that are directly tied are the ethereal and material planes. Otherwise, they are dimensions created of their own design and goals by the creator/owner and not comprised of 'their own version of another dimension'.
