IGN: More Mario Kart Wii Impressions

IGN's Matt Casamassina weighs in with his thoughts on Nintendo's forthcoming Wii racer:

"Well, I've put several hours into Mario Kart Wii now. Bear in mind that the Wii units which let us play pre-release software are unable to go online, so obviously I couldn't test what is bound to be the racer's biggest draw. (And even if I could, I'm under an embargo not to discuss the online mode.) But one thing I can write about now is the fact that given the choice between playing the game with the Wii remote or a more traditional pad, I would definitely go with the latter, easily, without question. And this, mind you, is coming from perhaps the only IGN editor who forced himself to play Super Smash Bros. Brawl with the Wii remote."

I couldn't picture using the Wii remote for this game...How would you perform the sharp turns?

Why does Nintendo or thrid party developers not allow ingame calibration or sensativty adjustments to games when using the wiimote?

If they are going to force gamers to use them to get the BEST experience than allow us to tweak them so we can enjoy the game. Sad to hear how crappy and loose the controls are for this using the Wiimote.. If I wanted to play this with the Cube Controler I would have kept my Cube...

I think I will be using my Gc Controller. Just kinda sux though. I bought the wii for the motion controls, but it seems to get the best experience lately, i have to use my gc controller.

Always remember Polygon's take on MK 8 and how it would end up being worse selling entry in franchise history. Oof. MK 8 deluxe is going to have one hell of a holiday. You know that Switch bundle is coming back.

Sgt_Slaughter933d ago

Polygon having a bad take? Sounds 100% accurate to me.

Inverno933d ago

Baffles me that they haven't made any new dlc for this, and yet they focus on the mobile game smh

meganick933d ago

I can only imagine that the Mario Kart devs have been hard at work on the follow-up to 8, hence why it got no dlc.

Inverno933d ago

We can only assume that they'll show something next year if they are working on the next game. With the way Ninty has been announcing games close to their release they don't leave room for any leaked info

--Onilink--933d ago

Its not like its the same developer. The one working on the mobile game isnt even a Nintendo developer
