PAX East 2013 Speculation – Warcraft Battles or Heroes of Warcraft ?

Just a few hours away from the official announcement of Blizzard Entertainment's new video game at PAX East, Blizzplanet and other fansites have flooded the social networks to share ideas and speculations on what the game might be.

The discussion was narrowed down to a few options: a first-person shooter based on StarCraft: Ghost or something related to StarCraft II's Project Blackstone website. A mobile game based on Warcraft -- either a TCG online or a Fight game like Street Fighter.

The latter speculation is based on two domain names acquired by Blizzard Entertainment last year: Heroes of Warcraft and Warcraft Battles. These might fit mobile devices such as the iPad, Microsoft Surface or even the PlayStation Vita.

The Blizzard Entertainment announcement will be livestream by Twitch.TV today in just a few hours at 10:00AM EST.

Just a few days ago, Chris Metzen shared a photo where he is playing with Micky Neilson a fighter game. Just days before PAX East. The game they were playing? Samurai Showdown 2. Hmm ...

Thrall vs Varian
Vol'jin vs Muradin Bronzebeard
Lor'themar vs Mekkatorque

Can you dig a game like that on mobile?

Its pretty awful actually. Thanks HACKTIVISION/Blizzard for getting peoples hopes up about a new game, your first new game Thats not standard milking procedure, as a card game. Looks awful, and I hope it flops.

I can't believe we nailed the "Heroes of Warcraft" speculation. Instead of a TCG, it was a CCG. (Collectible Card Game)

No kidding. I thought it's John McEnroe.

“There’s this great Steve Jobs quote I love: If you keep your eye on the profit, you’re going to skimp on the product. But if you keep your eye on the product, the profit will follow, and I really believe that,” Morhaime explained.

I think that basically explains the problem with Blizzard now and clearly goes against high level execs who couldn't give a toss about the games.

Must be something bad happening at MS (going by someone's obscure observation) right guys ? Surely ?

Ristul171d ago

He is fairly young still, so I wonder why he would retire from Blizzard. Maybe a new job, or something behind the scenes.

Abriael171d ago

32 years of career probably means he can retire young and simply dedicate himself to art and music fully.
