Sorry, but no. This game is not a 5 out 10, just a straight up hit baiting review or clearly written as an opinion. Not being a fanboy or any of that shit, but 5/10 is for games like Aliens Colonial Marines, that are ugly, un-playable at times and so on. God of War: A is none of that. This is why reviews from around the net are so fucked up.

uncharted , halo , gears, killzone .etc of tons and tons of games got the 4-5 score

that was a given... some people are soo desperate for hits they will do any thing
the best thing that you can do is just ignore them and enjoy the games

Ezz2013, don't you find it funny that these people didn't want hits from 2005-2010, but all of a sudden in 2013 they give GOW: Ascension a 6 for the very sake of getting hits..weird.

Like I said above, these reviews must be merely based on the opinion of the author, and not the actual quality of the game. Which I wouldn't care if this was a personal blog review, that's fine. But if you're going to post it here, on N4G, it's for hits and misleads viewers/readers whatever into thinking this isn't a quality game when it sure as hell doesn't deserve a 5/10.

since every one know god of war games are always top notch

and this is either as good or better than gow 2
and it's much better than 3 in every thing

"Quality" is extremely subjective. I've enjoyed the GOW franchise for many years, yet I have friends that believe the series is overrated. Different strokes for different folks.

And no, I haven't played the game yet. Don't see what that has to do with anything seeing as I haven't criticized the game at all aside from praising the demo.

Even if I had played the game and thought it was an 11/10, I wouldn't jump down the throat of anyone who thought it was a 5/10...or even a 3/10.

EDIT: I think the worth of a game depends on a persons taste/preference. Thats the only "point" your proving to me right now.

The recurring point I'm making is that anyone(depending on their own unique preferences) can easily justify giving these games anywhere between a 1/10 to a 10/10. Nothing is set in stone.

Yes, thats for certain. The person who posted this should have taken the average of both reviews(6/10). The 5/10 was put instead to create controversy among the N4G community. Reviews on the Run however doesn't need the exposure since, as you said, they've been on for a decade.

Ummm.. that DOES happen. Uve never heard of judges being paid off to sway a case in someone elses favor? Judges can easily make your life a living hell if they choose to(whether they don't like you or are getting paid off etc).

In MOST cases, what stops judges from doing that are WRITTEN texts such as precedents established in past law cases, the Bill of Rigths/Constitution etc.

In the world of game reviews, there is no WRITTEN guideline that EVERY game reviewer has to follow.

I picked up Ascension today, it's really not a good game, at least an hour in so far. The other GOW games were all amazing, but this one feels shallow, hollow and boring.

The graphics and sound are all AAA but everything else is weak. SSM dropped the ball on this one big time. I'm not sure if Sony forced them to make this game, but it feels that way. So far it's a 6.5/10 for me and I'm finding it hard to recommend this game to any GOW fan.

Reviewers aren't being haters on this one, it's genuinly not that good.

I like your detective work Logicwins. Even though I disagree with the scores because after playing the first 2 hours of the game, it is least an 8 for me thus far. But how could someone claim they are bias when it is an opinion from one of the reviewer? Their review history has shown, courtesy of Logicwins, they love the series as a whole but one guy is just tired of the series. Others diehard fans that still love the series will think otherwise. Works both ways.

Your attitude is way worse than any "hit bait" review ever written. Okay, so a game automatically gets what score for being playable? A 7/10 at least? An 8/10? What is "fair" to you? Gaming criticism is not miles behind criticism of other mediums because of advertising or fanboyism but because there is no room for actual criticism. A game doesn't get a free pass for being "playable" (defined as: working, minimal or unnoticeable glitches, responsiveness, et cetera) nor for being pretty. The criticisms aired in this review are valid: they feel this game is a mailed in and uninspired entry to a series they love. What is "fucked up" about that? In any other medium, this would be a perfectly fair assessment. A 5/10 is a fair score for such feelings (a 5/10 should not be reserved for "unplayable" games, that's a score like a 2 or a 3, 5/10 should be average or okay).

THIS is why we can NEVER have an objective review since everyone doesn't review games on the same terms.

Whats becoming apparent to me(on N4G at least) is that "objective reviews" and "reviews that I agree" with are the same thing. Its almost as if people want reviews not for the reviewers' opinions, but to justify the pre-existing of opinions they have. In essence, they want it to be like North Korea where everyone has to agree with each other and there is ZERO individuality. Very odd phenomenon.

Its absurd...and he bad mouthed his ex wife..uh oh! Anyway, more of the same means more God of War this gen before next gen and thats a great thing. It simply isnt boring. Yeah, it takes a slight hit in that it isnt a continuation and i dont knkw yet but i imagine all my questions wont be answered. But, mp could be alot of fun and even if it isnt, i get more GoW, which again is awesome. Maybe it feels repetitive because of the psp games and hd collections but i have only played GoW3 this gen, so i am loving it.

Its a tough time right now ith dead space 3, crysis 3, metal gear rising, God of war and gears of war. And, as i thought, the sequels are getting killed by fresh ips like ni no kuni, tomb raider (which is a fresh take) and bioshock (yes i can call this a win already). Gamers are getting tired of sequels and i bet even gears will get hit hard by reviewers. But, God of War is a solid 8.5 for me and i havnt touched mp yet.

I severely disagree with this review. QTE are perfect for God of War, fixed camera is a part of God of War. I like how they show you the environment when you enter it, it shows what your up against .

This is call ip oversaturation its happenning with Gow but should be happenning to many other games,atleast it is for me; and if next generation dont bring new experiencies on gameplay level im pretty sure that the crash on the gaming market will happen for sure and this could well be the end of the console generations.Market is stagnante with the lack of new IPS and diversity in gameplay; publishers are just milking franchises and adding paying stuff to already overall high price of games and expecting the same cash flow every time,but they were not counting that most of the gamers are just full of getting the same games with diferent nº or name and most are not going to fall for microtransactions and other bs moves that only interest the publishers pockets,a crash or a revolution must take place to restore the interest that most gamers are losing.Paying $60 ,39.99£,69.99€ for the same with some cosmetics improvements and them even stack dlc and microtransactions in games that rank 6 to 8 hours of gameplay is just trying to make some gamers fools;especially the ones that bite all this BS.

I used to watch this show on tv but that scott jones guy is a horrible reviewer. He gave persona 4 a 4.0/10, uncharted 3 6.5/10, and they recently revisted mgs4 which he gave a 1/10. I dont know if hes trying to be a troll or just takes his anger out by giving low scores to quality games(he has made negative references to his ex-wife quite a few times on the show), but he has underscored many games that clearly deserve better.

I was initially shocked....as I own the game, I play a ton of console games....and no sir. This game is no 5/10. (Sp)

The crux of Scott's argument is that it's nothing new, and this type of hack n slash is dated.

Hmm...so if innovation is such a big deal, how does COD keep scoring with these guys so high?

Why would a dev radically change a games style/game mechanics if the previous 5 games sold like hot cakes?

But info see that as gamers, we think we want something different.

What if the next Halo is a racing game? Is that the change your looking for? Or are we talking radically never seen before gameplay. Halo meets etch a sketch? Is that what you want?

Gow acsencion is on that precipice. But mp for me is what makes it relevant and fresh.

Whenever I see a review that gives a minus due to innovation....on a sequel/prequel I get annoyed.

You can modify the formula. Or innovate by branching into other genres. Ie-Mario....Mario kart.
But you can't or shouldn't give a negative for a successful ip being more if the same. That's why every year I buy COD. It's a 8yr old engine. But it's solid fun with friends. No one on consoles does mp as fluid as COD. (Srry for the tangent lol)

Anyways, I'm totally hooked on the mp. It's fresh and .....innovative? Almost. Pretty close. Power stone I think beat this to the punch. But this is waaaay better!

My biggest problem with gaming is I've lost the ability to play games solely for fun or team sports reasons. COD ruined that for me (in a good way I guess), because now...I NEED a progression system with unlocks to motivate me even as I realize I love the gameplay.

I master prestiged and diamond nearly everything in blops2. Now even with new maps I'm bored. What happen to my love for gaming? Mp I mean.
A friend of mine says he plays cod like a sport. We are in a clan. All cool. But I just can't get into it again.

Ah. It's been a long time since I've heard Victor Lucas' name. Judgement Day was one of my favorite shows on G4.

Their scoring is very personal/subjective, but to me the show wasn't really about that. I loved that they had two people with different views giving their unfiltered opinion about these games. They weren't afraid of saying they disliked hyped games. It led to some pretty interesting banter. This is all based on the Tommy/Vic era, btw. My favorite moment was when Tommy rage quit after Victor gave some shitty baseball game a score higher than one.

Haven't heard of this new guy, though. Doesn't sound like he's too good, though.
