TGH Writes: "Payday 2 is in development and it looks like Starbreeze Studios & Overkill Software is excited about showing more about it in the coming weeks."
GB: "Of course, Payday 2 has had its fair share of ups and downs as well, in spite of the success that it has enjoyed. For starters, the disparity between the game’s PC and console versions is a major issue that plagued the game for years on end, thanks to the frustrating optimization issues across platforms brought about by the Diesel Engine, which the game was developed on."
Payday 2 launched 10 years ago today, and a constant stream of updates still makes it worth playing ahead of Payday 3.
Starting today, Payday 2 is free at Epic Games Store. The free game offer runs until June 15. Once you claim it, it's yours to keep.
oh can't wait for this, loved the first one
The first one was flawed in some cases but full of potential. If they can improve upon the original's concepts, I think we can expect a great co-op game.
Please be for PS4.
This is exciting and great news. The first game was a ton of fun, and I think I think I've dropped in around 90 hours on it so far (if the Steam record is accurate). I do hope that visually it's a little more refined, but I'm not terribly concerned if it's not a huge upgrade. The only real problem I think most people had with the first game was the low map count, and no capability for user-made levels. It was great that 3 more heists were added (one free and two from the DLC), but I think the game still could have used a few more.
From what I remember reading though, I believe they had mentioned that for Payday 2 they would try to make some sort of level design tools for users to work with. I could be wrong, but I thought I read that somewhere on the Steam forums or otherwise. I know I'd personally love to design my own heists with some friends.
On a small side note, has anyone else seen the insane way to "properly" beat the Bank heist? It's hints were so cryptic, I have no idea how this was figured out. Apparently you need a full team of 4 players all with the golden masks on, playing on Overkill 145+ difficulty, and then you'll need to arrange yourselves in a specific pattern in the security room (before dropping the thermite), followed by applying a drill that will take (at minimum) 30 minutes, (some reports have out saying its lowered now, but it originally was 2 hours) then have to figure out a puzzle to open the special vault. Have a look at this video and you'll see the full explanation : http://youtu.be/v5OidJNoraE
They're already announcing DLC for a game that has no release date and doesn't exist outside of an announcement. That's nice.
