Activision Lays Off Staff, Says There Will Be Fewer Licensed Games

Even the massive money-making game publisher Activision lays off people from time to time, as the company confirmed today that they’ve cut about 30 jobs from their global work force.

It's crazy when this happens. I can bet a ton that those 30 jobs yearly salary don't equal the CEO'S bonus. But on another hand I think this says there will be even less "chances" taken and less licensed games.

It's sad that people will lose jobs, but Activision is the worst at making licensed games. So there's a silver lining. I wouldn't say Activision takes many chances either.

Thats not what i want and what most hardcore want but Activisions goes where the money is.

Here's an idea. Why not just make smaller dev teams to create great games without huge budgets. You know, the type of games that came out for the xbox and ps2. Everything wasn't all about HD this and my specs are better than your specs. People just made great games and there were numerous diamonds in the ruff. Now everything has to be about explosions, advertising, and everything else that doesn't matter in the big scheme of things.

Just make good games.

They don't need to make fewer licensed games but actually make them worth playing, for decades game companies have made crappy licensed games on purpose because they think they can secure sales by taking advantage of the licenses existing fan bases outside of gaming. Their are a few exceptions though that were good games, the Batman Arkham series, Goldeneye and Spider-man 2 come to mind.

Good every company should stay away from licensed games......99 out of 100 are garbage shovel-ware, and once in a blue you get a gem like Batman. Leave those types of games to indy devs !!!
