Is the Cyberpunk trailer sexist? We ask women gamers what they actually think

The release last week of the much-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 trailer from CD Projekt RED sparked a number of comments and discussions online about whether or not the trailer was sexist towards women, or maybe even misogynistic in nature.

Rather than adding to the white noise of “here’s what a man thinks about issues affecting women”, we decided to go right to the source and ask a bunch of women gamers, game developers and games media what they thought about CD Projekt RED’s latest trailer.

Everyone will be different. My sister and Gf didn't find it sexist at all. But that does not mean that other women won't.

You can made drama out of everything, some people can be easily offended, may it be sexisms, religion or political views.

FarCryLover1824135d ago

I find your statement about people being offended offensive.

SAE4135d ago

I think this is only a religion thing not politic and i agree each person will see it differently ..

centaureas4135d ago

no, it's not, now quit whining.

kevnb4135d ago (Edited 4135d ago )

why is it sexist? This is getting retarded, look at all the games that have guys with huge muscles and shirtless. Its hypocritical.

SAE4135d ago (Edited 4135d ago )

men are different then womens . you cant make them equal on this kind of thing..

it's like saying if men can take off shirt then womens can do it too which is wrong . womens must have some kind of protection for her thinking and mens doesn't get effected and imagine things then end up doing something wrong . this thing in all religions and even if you dont believe in anything you will feel it's wrong..

in my religion if this game effect my feelings then i cant play it . if not then it's ok . same with movies or even songs ( music is ok in my religion :) ) ..

just saying my opinion . i know you guys live different then me so dont take it as offensive or anything like that ^^

"it's like saying if men can take off their shirt then women can do it too. "

I see nothing wrong with this

:'D

The game is revolving around a genetically-enhanced society, through upgrades, including COSMETIC upgrades. Of course everyone is going to look like a perfect model, now find something else to argue about.

Games That Were Bad on Release, But Are Now Great

BLG writes, "Some of the most popular games have had a rough start, with some of them being downright unplayable.

Despite that, developers have managed to turn it around for them and make their game worth playing. Here are some games that had a rough start but were pretty great."

Good list..hoped to see Street Fighter 5 there..and it is.

Vits10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

Sea of Thieves... I'm not disagreeing that the game has improved in terms of content. But I feel that the most significant change between now and its release is actually the public perception. Nowadays, most people are aware that the game is a multiplayer PvP-focused experience first and foremost, and not "Black Flag made by Rare". Consequently, people dismissing the whole experience because the single-player aspect is lacking or the story is plain are much less common.

darthv7210d ago

Several years ago, i submitted an idea to Rare that would change up the mechanics of battling opponents in the game. whereby if you died in battle, you turned into a skeleton warrior and had to fight your way back to the land of the living. It was an interesting twist on respawning and would allow the player to experience both sides of a battle.

I keep hoping to see something like that get added to the game.

Kaii10d ago

They consider FO 76 & ME Andromeda to be great now 🤭

anast10d ago

Every game in the last 2 decades...

INMATEofARKHAM10d ago

It's sad that this quick retort is more often than not true... The industry's acceptance of release and patch has gone too far.

gunnerforlife9d ago

Days gone! By the end of the game I couldn't drop it down! I went around so many hours killing zombies! It was addictive by the end.

S2Killinit9d ago

That game was just plain good game. It didnt improve, it was just good.

gunnerforlife9d ago

I don't know, I got it abit late, and struggled for a few days, and then all of a sudden it just got good!!

Well they are using unreal engine now thanks to there work culture and horrific job on making cyberpunk so for the future no impact.

7 disagrees shows how many look at one dlc that had a rip off fight from ghost in the shell and goes wow what a goat team i love cdpr while ignoring that they only made 2 games that were good witcher 2/3 in 20yrs.

But its a new world we want a criminal that support's legal murder as president/support shoplifting love toxic work environments and have a mass casualty event every other day.

GhostMirror22d ago

I’ll admit I didn’t play it at launch, but Cyberpunk 2077 is a really good game now.

And who the hell knows what you’re even going on about in your second paragraph here.

EazyC22d ago

Wait a min...I swear to god CP2077's source code got leaked before. CDPR needs to stop using "password123" for all their accounts 😅

just_looken22d ago

Na its hundreds ex employees no doubt just getting there revenge.

Profchaos22d ago (Edited 22d ago )

This is the same leak the threat actors have been trying to sell the source code after cd project didn't pay the ransom.

They didn't manage to sell the source code to any company largely because it would be unethical for say EA to buy it so the threat actors failed to find a buyer.

After they failed to make any money they went through with their threat of simply giving it away.

They will need to add everything they promised in the first one and not over promise on the second one.

just_looken22d ago

They also need to drop esg then hire employees that have knowledge not hire them because they have a set of tits.

Official video they hired people to fill the esg clipboard

Hofstaderman22d ago (Edited 22d ago )

As somebody who has been playing the tabletop games since the 90s and was let down on launch by my PS4 version, you can bet I'm not going the preorder any sequel.

nmbr1esq22d ago

3rd person option, and everything else that was originally promised. Next don't force agenda driven naratives. Finally, release a finished product without need for day one patches.
