CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama: ‘We’ve got 3 new games in the pipeline’

SGCafe:

2013′s going to be a busy year for game development studio CyberConnect2. Not only are they working on the finishing touches for Naruto Shippuuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 (March 2013), they’ve also been concurrently working on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle (PS3), as well as GREE smartphone action game Night Runner (Working Title) and additional contents for its other smartphone title, Guilty Dragon.

And that’s not all. The Fukuoka-based developer has apparently got pretty big plans for 2013.

In a New Year’s message YouTube video that just went live today, CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama teased that the game developer plans to unveil three more unannounced titles later this year in 2013.

Matsuyama-san described these three new titles as “original new works” (オリジナル新作), which is Japanese-game-industry speak for “brand new IP”.

Damn, was hoping for a .hack game lol.

Wonder what they in store for us.

Godmars2904167d ago

Given that they're suggesting a range of anything from full console titles to iOS, I'm going to guess stuff possibly not as big as you think.

I hope Asura's Wrath 2 will still come

Skate-AK4167d ago

I just got #1 the other day. The game is crazy.

I want another .hack game, and that would be bad ass if they made one for the PC as well, online would be golden, and if they had a mmo with the PS# and PC combined. * mind-blown*

Hicken4167d ago

Since I played the first game, all I've ever wanted was an online .hack.

Fullmetalevolust4166d ago

A .Hack//Gu HD collection please :)

Im guessing a new anime QTE/beatemup/hacknslash game. Asura´s Wrath 2 is not necessary from the way i see it.
Naruto Storm Impact 2 for the PS Vita and PSP.
And hopefully a new Hack game alongside with an HD colection of the older games.

3 new IP´s would nice as well CC2 makes good stuff.

CyberConnect2 will close its Montreal studio in July

Developer CyberConnect2 confirmed the incoming closure of its satellite office in Montreal, Canada. At the end of July, it'll be shutting down its only other office beyond the main one stationed in Fukuoka, Japan.

The Montreal office opened in 2016, 20 years after the developer was originally founded. Its statement noted that the second office "led CyberConnect2 on a creative journey in the development of tools and cutting-edge techniques used in creating games."

No mention was made in the developer's statement about if it will offer any severance or transitional help to those about to be laid off.

Yeeeesss!!!! I hope they vary up the dungeons, but I’m so happy this is a thing

MadLad450d ago

I wouldn't mind some cleaned up remasters of the originals. Those are the ones I have real nostalgia for.

shinoff2183450d ago

It was always mind boggling they released the .hack g.u. but never the originals. To this day I still never opened them waiting on the originals

FinalFantasyFanatic450d ago

I'd like the original games to be released again, I couldn't get into them the first time around.

BISHOP-BRASIL449d ago

Now I'm almost happy it was just a joke.

Terry_B449d ago

lol ^^ but 6 people downvoted my comment and didnt get that it was a joke as well since I knew it was a joke ;)
