The Gaming Vault: "In 2011 some of the guys around these parts started a regular series of articles encouraging anybody who was willing to continue their favorite franchises from the days of yore, with modern updates. This was before my time with TGV, and I really enjoyed these pieces.
The last of these articles to be posted was followed days later with an announcement of an HD remake of the very game requested. It was interesting to me that they stopped writing them after just one success. Press on and hope for continued victories, says I!
With that, I bring you my own entry in this wish list of forgotten gaming wonders that surely merited a sequel but never got its due – Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem."
Got that retro survival horror bug? Here's Chit Hot's picks for the seven best survival horror games from yesteryear.
Eternal Darkness was way ahead of its time especially for a Nintendo exclusive.
I would love to see a remake or sequel (multiplatform)
4 people love Eternal Darkness.
Quick! Jump on that remake, whoever holds the rights these days.
Spooky season is here again at last and time of the horror game has arrived alongside it. This year has seen the return of some the genre's greatest entires, but both tended to focus more on thrills than they did chills. So, those wanting a bit more of the latter this month would do well to check out at least one of these before Halloween rolls around.
An Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem remaster would certainly "resonate with fans," according to director Denis Dyack.
I have been asking for a remake for Nintendo's next console launch. The sanity system was a very nice touch.
One of the best horror games ever. Nintendo should have capitalized on this. It's still not too late.
Even not being an owner of a current Nintendo console, I for one would love to see this. Preferably a remake, though.
Eternal Darkness easily ranks up there wih my favourite titles from that gen. Sad to hear what happened to Silicon Knights. Hopefully they'll consider selling the franchise name to a dev willing to explore the concept again.
I think it would be cool to see another Eternal Darkness game.
DUH!
But this game is from Silicon Knights and well they aren't really in a position to make anything right now.
If it's put in the hands of competent developers I say hell yes. But if they're just gonna half ass it I say don't bother. I don't need one of my favorite games ruined by developers who won't put their heart into it, the way the makers of the first one did.
There was a really interesting article I read that said the reason why X-Men Destiny was such garbage was because they were taking activisions funding and having the team work on a tech demo for ED2.
After SK lost the lawsuit to Epic Nintendo cut funding to a secret project to them that was rumored to be ED2.
Most of the original SK guys that worked on ED are no longer there and were not even there while they constructed the demo. The thought is great but we should keep it there.
