The XBLIG: It’s a challenge these days to craft a zombie game that isn’t a tired ‘me-too’ clone of an existing property, so it’s a bit of a relief to find a platformer that combines humor and strategy in Three Dead Zed (240 MSP). Gentlemen Squid Studio’s previously-PC title makes the transition to XBLIG in fine hand-drawn form with the story of a zombie that has been experimented on to create the ultimate weapon, instead resulting in a fractured existence, the chance to exploit three forms of zombie being.
By now it's become clear that everyone loves killing zombies, but so far we haven’t really seen a game that makes the undead, the hero. Well, that’s changed with Three Dead Zed, a 2D puzzle-platformer from Gentleman Squid Studios. This well-designed title combines elements from Trine and Super Meat Boy to make for a fun and humourous experience.
Three Dead Zed is a great action platformer with just a few small problems.
GG3 receives some press releases from titles that chose this exact period of time to release on PC, right when there's a giant Steam Summer Sale event. That's why none have even made a blip in sales so far. Other games were a little craftier.
I'm not worried for Shovel Knight. It was an anticipated release. I bet it'll start selling gangbusters after the Steam sale's done.
I would think summer sales are a great time to release. It is when the Steam Store gets millions of people actively browsing the store every day, looking to spend some money....
