Rise of the Guardians Xbox 360 Review | The Game Scouts

Jon Hamlin: Rise of the Guardians is a game that shouldn’t work. With a development cycle that was a fraction of what it is for most games and a developer most have never heard of—not to mention that the game is based on a recently released movie, a death knell for most games—Rise of the Guardians should, on most accounts, be a terrible game. At least, that is what most would expect. But Rise of the Guardians is not a terrible game. It also isn’t a good game. In fact, more than any other game I’ve played this year, it just kind of is. Simplicity is the order of the day with Rise of the Guardians. Everything is easy to understand and access, and while this is a design philosophy that looks good on paper you will quickly find the streamlining and ease-of-access to be excessive.

Rise of the Guardians Review | BioGamer Girl

"DreamWorks released Rise of the Guardians last year to give fans a brand new take on old fairy tale legends including Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy. Fans are obviously skeptical when it comes to new video games based on films, especially when they are based around an animated film that doesn't appeal to many gamers in the first place. Still, developer Torus Games has managed to do a good job with their new release of Rise of the Guardians to present a fully completed title that isn't quite to the production level of the beloved LEGO series of game, but it is pretty close."

ZG:Rise of the Guardians is an adequate game however it doesn’t have the grab factor that keeps you coming back for more. There is or was a lot of potential to have created something more compelling for both young and old, beginner and advanced.

This Is Xbox: Santa Clause just sliced and diced a shadowy figure using a big sword…

I am sure I just saw the Easter Bunny flinging around dual boomerangs and dealing swift justice to a shadowy image of a horse…

And now the Tooth Fairy is in on the action… these aren’t how I remember these childhood characters, not one bit.
