Rising Star Games has announced that the classic shmup (shoot 'em up) arcade game Under Defeat HD: Deluxe Edition is now available for PlayStation 3. Players looking to get their hands on the digital version via PlayStation Network can do so on December 4.
The price tag is $26.99 which is expensive , but still cheaper than playing it at an arcade when all is said and done.
As we make that smooth transition from current to next-gen consoles, this fellow old school gamer finds it refreshing to come across titles that serve as gorgeous reminders of those action-packed moments from yesteryear, and “Under Defeat HD: Deluxe Edition” from G. Revolution and Rising Star Games is such the title. UDHD is an arcade shooter (which was first released for the Sega Dreamcast in 2006) that has players taking over the role as a helicopter pilot that is caught in a conflict between the Empire and the Union. What makes UDHD’s story more interesting is that it’s based on World War II.
Drew Leachman writes: I’ve played my fair share of side/up scrolling shooters. Granted, I have never been very good at them, but I do enjoy them from time to time. The “bullet hell” genre is a bit of a different monster in the grand scheme of shoot ‘em ups, where maneuvering takes precedence over pinpoint shooting. Under Defeat HD is one of those games.
Planning on picking this one up soon.
