Ratchet & Clank: QForce Review | EuroGamer

EuroGamer: "The game always looks good, and it amuses sporadically, but there's no heart - and following on from the similarly scattershot All 4 One, it sets a worrying precedent. Ratchet and Clank are in danger of losing their way. Insomniac needs to regain confidence in its still-popular series and play to its strengths rather than chasing trends for the sake of change."

bring back the great single player something like R&C3or4

Jobesy4175d ago

Since Insomniac has been working on Fuse this makes me think they had a B-team working on the past 2 R&C games given the lack of quality they showed.

a crack in time was great WTH I would like to see more games like a crack in time and A4O was ok

Ilovetheps54175d ago

I played the demo and thought it was okay. But, I just want a regular Ratchet and Clank game. All 4 One wasn't that great and now this game isn't looking too good either. I wish they would return to their roots. Tools For Destruction and A Crack in Time were great games. I hope they return to that formula soon.

jimbobwahey4175d ago

I agree. It seems that they're instead focusing on quick 'n' easy games that they can crap out with minimal effort to keep them going until Fuse launches, and you can really tell with how half-hearted their output has become.

The original Tools of Destruction that accompanied the launch of the PS3 was a fantastic game, and Crack in Time was also utterly fantastic. If they're not putting out another proper R&C game like those, then they won't be seeing any of my money.

It's a shame as well to be honest, since the Ratchet & Clank games were some of the best 3D platformers around. They've really lost their way this past few years though.

agreed 100%, im a huge fan of the franchise and the last two games were pointless. ratchet is one of the few games that i feel needs zero fundamental changes. just switch up the story weapons and worlds each game and ill happily buy a new game each time.

"agreed 100%, im a huge fan of the franchise"

Yeah it was pretty hard to tell lol.

Anyways, I'd also love for a proper release.
I'd also love it if they remade the first game with more RPG elements. Up Your Arsenal was my favourite, but the story to the first was the best IMO.

Just curious as to what it was about All4one that people are so unhappy about. It wasn't a million miles away from other games in the series. Mr zurkon still makes me laugh when equipped and the cut scenes were excellent. The only game I didn't like from the series was the one that used the move controller

Amplitude4175d ago (Edited 4175d ago )

LMAO NO NOT THAT THING oh god no dont remind me of that. It doesnt exist xD

Haha man i forgot about that. Ugh with... that game (i forget the title and im happy about it), all-4-one, and Full Frontal Assault, im really ready for another full-fledged R&C Future-type game.

Still buying FFA when the store updates tonight though >.>

Insomniac is dead. As soon as they announced they were going multi platform the quality if their Sony titles has been lacking.

They better hope that 'Fuse' or whatever it is they are working on goes triple platinum cause they certainly aren't winning any awards with the recent work they are doing for Sony.

Master of Unlocking4175d ago

I'm with you here Nodoze, but it's also worth pointing out that, if their Ratchet &Clank games on the PS3, which are still great games, tools of destruction and a crack in time I mean, had sold better, we probably wouldn't be here. These games certainly did not bomb, but I have the feeling they didn't do accordingly to their intrinsic quality, sales-wise.

If we don't support devs when they put out quality games by buying a new copy of their software, we shouldn't complain that these devs decide to move on after that and become multi (or just dramatically reduce the scale of the next entry, case in point: Motorstorm Apocalypse followed by Motorstorm RC. Yep, we got punished)

MoonConquistador4173d ago

To be fair, MS RC was only a fiver at first, then as a free vita download. The real downturn in the series occurred when they followed up pacific rift (still probably my favourite racing game this gen) with the bells and whistles of Apocalypse

A Look at All of the 3D Platformers Available on Vita

VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "3D platformers have long been a favourite genre of mine. Growing up on the likes of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon on PS1 means I’ve been conditioned to love the colourful, vibrant worlds and the exploration-based gameplay that often goes with the 3D platformer. In recent generations the genre has stalled, with fewer new releases and publishers unwilling to invest in new titles, and even older mascots falling by the wayside.

Yet thanks to its brilliant backwards-compatibility with PS1 and PSP games, the Vita has become something of a home for the neglected genre, with plenty of classic games playable (especially thanks to HD Remasters from the PS2 era) and a few brilliant modern titles thrown into the mix too."

A Look at All of the Third-Person Shooters Available on Vita

VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "Thanks to some solid late-in-life Japanese support, and a sea of backwards-compatible games, the Vita’s library of third-person shooters is a lot better than it first appears, covering a variety of sub-genres from horror to stealth to tactical, all the while providing games that are a tonne of fun to play."

Missed so many games.

Also backwards compatibility differs from region to region.

Literally some stores like the NZ/Aus store will allow syphon Filter 1 and 3 but not 2 and the USA store is different again

IanTH2062d ago (Edited 2062d ago )

I haven't done it in a while so unsure if it has changed, but you used to be able to download any PS1 or PSP game to a PS3 and then transfer it to the Vita and it just worked - regardless of whether it showed as something you could buy in store for, or download directly to, the Vita. It opened up a huge library of back-compat titles that way.

PlayStation Vita's 10 Most Technically Disappointing Games

VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "Despite being the most powerful handheld console to be released in 2011, and being more than capable of handling ports of PS2, PS3, and even PS4 titles when the developers put the effort in, not every company was willing to take the time to ensure that the Vita version of their games turned out well - and as such a large number of games are hugely disappointing on the handheld simply due to the way they run.

In this article, I aim to examine these ports – what was disappointing about them (and why they should have been better than they were), as well as possible explanations on why they turned out the way they did - and ultimately come to a conclusion as to how well the Vita did as a machine capable of handling console ports during its lifespan."
