The Divnich Tapes: How PS3 Is Catching Xbox 360

Jesse Divnich from Gamasutra writes:

"Throughout this week, simExchange analyst Jesse Divnich is presenting exclusive Gamasutra analysis of January's hardware and software trends, using data from The simExchange, NPD, IGN GamerMetrics and GameTrailers. First up - despite alleged shortages, how the Xbox 360 is being overtaken by the PS3."

"While Sony declared a victory, Microsoft claimed that a hardware shortage hindered its January sales. To what extent a hardware shortage played is not calculable, but previous NPD and predicted simExchange trends indicate that the PS3 was in the process of catching up, regardless of any shortage."

If the PS3 outsells the 360 for February, Shane Kim is gone.

I saw a couple of corner backs pull up with a "bad hamstring" when they got burned by Randy Moss for touchdowns.

M$ just can't admit they been outsold by the PS3 without coming up with some excuse? I bet anything that M$ will be back up in sales this month. Nothing to do with shortages or anything but just the fact that January was a good month for the PS3. Possibly because of all the talk about Blu-Ray. Oh well, atleast we can celebrate the one month where the PS3 shined.

Anything but Cute5925d ago

But I'd like to think that at some point PS3 sales will stay good. Because of the rising demand of Blu ray players and of course the most hyped games of 2008.

When it all said and done the Playstation console will come out on top again.

3PEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If its sales ever start to slow, they always have the option of a price drop, since they havent used that card yet.

Wii's for $150 would go like hotcakes.

Can you imagine how dated the Wii graphics will be in 2 more years. By then the PS3 will be $250 and the Wii $150, but who wants to play on a 3 year old machine that gives you an experience of a 7 year old console Gamecube 1.5. Especially when by then there will be allot more HDTV sold and blue ray will be almost mainstream.

LOL Dark Sniper finds it funny that PLAYSTATION®3 is outselling the Xbox 360 without any of the big guns being out yet,MGS4 will work magic for Sony and PLAYSTATION®3 once it's out in a couple of months,Dark Sniper suggest all PLAYSTATION®3 owners to pre-order and buy MGS4 on day one of it's release,Dark Sniper has already pre-ordered MGS4 from his local gameshop and he can't wait to get his hands on MGS4

You are one of the lamest posters out there bro. You are a true blindly devoted sony fan. Not a game fan. And you sound about 10. The list only shows a couple of good sony excluseive titles. But surely not enough to put the xbox down. And the others are eather lame or on xbox. Sure you will have some good games for your movie player soon, But how long have you been waiting? I think if you look real hard you will find that xbox has a lot of great exclusives also.
And why do you talk in 3rd person? Dark sniper think dark sniper a bung hole wiper...
