If there had to be one exclusive game Sony is pushing hard this holiday season, it is their new fighting game, Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale. Developed by newcomer Superbot, this title has got the obvious comparisons to Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. franchise ever since it was first shown off earlier this year. Eager fans have been getting their hands on the game at various conventions and closed betas, but now there is a public beta available for everyone to try out for this week. It has been out for Playstation Plus owners and folks with a Vita for a week, but everyone else has access to it today. From what we at Entertainment Fuse has played so far, Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale is an interesting take on the Super Smash Bros. formula, but different enough to be its own game at the same time.
While Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale didn't get the best review, there are still some aspects of the game that deserve some credit.
Though PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale is a bit of a cult classic, it could have been a big hit if it launched in 2022 instead of 2012.
It wouldn't have mattered, Sony would've rushed it out and left it to die. More so now than before with their focus now being on SP narrative driven AAA games.
Oh, but somehow Smash Bros. 64 made it work?
It just couldn’t compete with Smash Bros. and it wasn’t a free-to-play game like Multiversus.
I think it released at the right time. It's just after the success of Smash and Multiversus, it's finally time for a sequel.
I'd be all in on a remake or remaster of the original. I enjoyed it because I didn't sit there and compare every aspect to SSB. I just enjoyed it as it was.
Sony should make part 2 and dump a good amount of money on it. Scrap super only kills and it's bound to succeed.
God of War: Ragnarok has plenty of fun references to PlayStation history, but now fans have discovered a conversation that calls back to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale — the crossover fighting game released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.
That’s interesting. It actually does make it canon lol. He mentioned it in a mainline game. I’d say that’s pretty cool.
When I started this beta I didn't like it at first, but then it started growing on me and I love it now. Just some advice for anyone getting the beta: give it some time. I'm having a blast with it now.
Yeah. You just have to get used to it and you will be having a blast. I started off being a little shaky but now that I know all of Fat Princesses moves I am kicking @$$ with her. I am even winning matches with no deaths against Kratos and Radec. And I realize that just using the moves isn't good enough. People can cancel them out or dodge them if you are not to careful. Anyone who just thinks they can just pick the person with the best supers and win automatically is going to be in for a nasty surprise. I actually watched people lose with NO kills despite them using super attacks.Do not go into this game thinking it is SSB or that you can just use Kratos or Radec and win automatically. You will get yourself manhandled.
Ugh, my PSN+ ran out a month ago. Any word when this will be available to free users?
I like this game now but it could use some better levels than just squares with a few floating platforms.
Im good at using kratos now and I was able to get him to max level last night once I won 8 games in a row. I just got second to a good person with sly tho, I think sly is good too he is a survival expert. I dont like to play with the ranged characters as tehy are boring to shoot guns and throw gernades in this type of game.
