Why The Wii U Will Stimulate The Console Industry

When the Wii U launches on November 18th, 2012, it will revolutionize the console industry.

It will stimulate the console industry for Nintendo.
If anything Ps360 trade-ins will hurt their competitors.
Nintendo will be riding high for two years, and then they will need to be concerned

it all comes down to marketing. The wii became an overnight success because of its unique way to play. the idea that anyone could play a game that hadnt before. It worked, no discredit there.

Nintendo needs to show this new controller and really express that it isnt simply a new controller but a whole new experience that cant be done on their existing wii's.

I dont know if any company before offered a trade in program from their previous system to the new one. Like people go and trade in their old car for a new one. i know that example is a stretch but if nintendo were to offer up a $50 trade in for the wii to wii-u i would bet millions would jump on that.

Especially if they were reassured from nintendo that all their existing software and accessories would work with no problem. WE know that to be true (the dedicated gamers) but the millions of others out there that bought one because it was the thing to do...don't.

That was a selling point for people who bought a ds when the gba was so popular. Same goes for those with a ds to dsi or 3ds. The hook was the consumer wasnt losing anyhting but gaining more for that investment.

If they dont get the right marketing team, the wii-u will be seen like someone who has a dvd player and there is bluray on the shelf and them not knowing there is a real benefit to the upgrade.

If what they have does what they want then there wont be unit sold.

simple nintendo always brings the innovation and consoles that stimulate the industry and wiiu is no different...then sony and ms will follow and copy and their fanboys will be happy to talk then

Leave it to a person stupid enough to study a failing and utterly wrong profession (economics...seriously that's what the dude is studying along with Business administration...and thus what he knows nothing about) to write about how the Wii U will 'stimulate' the console industry.

It's not about 'stimulating'. It's about making a console that can put out games that are fun and people want.

God that author is a moron. New consoles don't stimulate anything. They get people to buy what they don't have because it didn't exist before. That's not stimulation.

God these economics morons don't know one thing about economics, business, or reality.

Here's one thing I'm sure he's never thought of Glass-Steagall. The dude is worthless if he tries to write based on concepts that aren't even real...so basically everything in the economics textbooks.

Industries aren't there to be stimulated. They're there to provide for a need. People want games and new ways to play them, new consoles/pc tech help provide that.

But I guess everything he learned is through the moronic lens of economics. Thus he throws in words like 'stimulate' and by doing so, misses the entire point.
