EDIT: Uncharted, LBP, PS Home just to name a few. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they sold multiplayer skins for GoW: Ascension when it comes out.

Can't recall if Sony did that but CAPCOM always does this. Not only do they charge for different costumes but they also charge for different colors for costumes.

How do you figure?
SF IV - $6.50 for them all and there is definitely more than 12 fighters, so it's lower than .50 cents.
SSFIV - $4 for a 5 pack, so thats a little under a dollar.
MVC 3 - various, but it cost roughly a costume.
SF X Tekken - $1 dollar per single pack.

VS

Uncharted 3 - $1 per unlocked character skin or .49 for a random accessory. Either or, Capcom is not charging you $1 dollar to add Sideburns to sully and another .49 for an ascot.

Also lets not forget that many of the Capcom costumes come in various colors / have an editor / etc. Where as the Uncharted ones might have at most 7 colors, though most have far less if any.

Also, you're forced to buy things in packs, which ends up being more expensive if you only want one or two.

All those idiots who payed Capcom for SFxT DLC back in April/May and said that on-disc DLC makes it easier to get screwed.

Those things are TOTALLY optional, THATS what people should pay, and not things they need to play.

you guys need to make this as top download of the day just to show em Capcom that free is the only way to go. The complete costume swap pack download still works right now. It has one with price then the free one pops up like a few seconds later. I downloaded it through ps store.
