Codemasters has today announced the summer 2008 release of Race Driver: GRID for Nintendo DS. This handheld version will release simultaneously with the previously announced home console and PC versions.
Exclusive to the Nintendo DS version is the acclaimed track editor first seen in Race Driver: Create and Race. Now with over 60 individual track pieces, the track creation tool offers "near-limitless" options, including the ability to personalise trackside hoardings and billboards. Using the Free-Draw tool entire championship circuits can be created in only minutes - the game taking a hand-drawn track outline and converting it into an in-game circuit.
