Wii u's pro controller feels great- once you get used to it

The Wii U, Nintendo’s upcoming console release, features an innovative tablet controller. But Nintendo is also introducing its own “Pro” controller, for gamers who want more command than a tablet or Wii remote can provide.

I agree. Analog sticks that are parallel to each other is not only ergonomically incorrect and puts unnessessary strain on your thumbs. Just look at how close the analog sticks are to the bumpers. If you are a teen - adult your hands are going to feel cramped and awkward trying to hit the bumpers while using the analg sticks.

At least the ps3 controllers have the analog sticks lower so that a greater extension of the fingers can be made resulting in less cramping oh the fingers trying to hit the bumpers.

The ps3 controller design is around 20 years old and is STILL designed better ergonomically then this WiiU controller. I really don't see the core users enjoying this controller for games with twitchy gameplay controlling like COD type of games simply because this controller is just not comfortable enough. Nintendo have taken 1step forward with this controller as well has taken 2 steps back.

Its perfect because it combines the natural position of the hands when the stick is on top with the the symmetrical side by side dual analogs that provide more precision.

Because it's made mainly for the simplistic people that demanded Nintendo to support a "regular controller" with their new console even though the Gamepad is the same freaking thing but with a screen, the same kind of people who couldn't figure out the Wii remote...

You think the Duke controller had a better design than the pro controller? That's interesting but I do see where your coming from. I personally wasn't a huge fan of the Duke or pro controller when I 1st saw it, but once I actually use it I think it'll be just as efficient as the 360 controller.

They've doomed themselves to shooters and nothing else just like the 360 controller.

The analog layout is fine and makes sense if you look at their tablet controller...but those top buttons were clearly designed for shooting, aiming, reloading, or lobbing grenades.

They should have kept the classic controller pro that shipped with Golden Eye Reloaded which was perfect for shooters, as well as every other genre from fighting to platforming...

There isn't a right position and every control looks funny till it comes out. Look at GC? We all laughed but it turned out to be one of the best control designs and was praised by a lot of people. I've tried both controls now and they both feel adequately comfortable enough and light enough which is the most important part. Unless you have reversed hands or are an alien you should be fine. The gamepad and pro controller are great and are basically the same control, its just that one has a screen and the other doesn't.

i havent tried it yet but it doesnt really matter does it? The gamepad will be wii u's primary controller & if u can only use it in mostly multiplayer games, its the other players problem..

I HOPE it can be used in all future games cuz im not into that gamepad very much.. After playing rayman legends for a while, i got sick of holding it.. That couldve been because of that thick spiral cord restricting my arms from being free & comfortable though.. Still didnt care for holding it in my hands tho.. The trigger & face button placement wasnt all that sweet in my big paws.. I wish i couldve played more games using it so i can have a better idea of how games like AC & Ninja gaiden will feel..

if i ever i get wii u, the gamepad will be docked on a table right in front of me while i use the pro.. I must say, it is very responsive & the gyroscope works flawlessly.. Its a great method of control for games using that feature.. The loading, navigation, & response time is fantastic on wii u.. The visuals look just as great as current machines & this is just the beginning w launch games.. The wii u will be a perfected current gen machine (dont know about the network tho).. All it needs is the outside support to start flowing in & its going to be bought..

Its funny even after playing the Wii the most trouble I ever had learning a controller was on the N64. It was the first system I played with an analog stick. I could not spin Bowser around to save my life the first time around. lol
