New PSP demos on US Store

Eurogamer reports that Sony has popped two new PSP demos onto its American PC Store.

The first is for Puzzle Guzzle, which has you making diagonal shapes on a square board while an opponent tries to make your life more difficult; "your brain tears the box to shreds" apparently, and that sounds like super powers.

The other is a sampler for Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, a game based on the US cartoon where superheroes and characters from 1960s Hanna-Barbera shows tackle court cases.

Good to see the PSP get some lovin'

But why aren't they adding the Chain of Olympus demo to those mis fortunate that couldn't get it?

Tisk, tisk...

Its more of an interactive version of the show as opposed to an actual game though. It seems to be purely fan service and will not appeal to people who aren't already fans of the show. It is very similar to the pheonix Wright games in structure, and I loved those. I heard that this game was pretty short though. I definitely want to play the whole thing, but I'm not sure i'd pay full price for it. Definitely a good rental if you're a fan of the show.

Played Harvey Birdman, it's basically an interactive story rather than a game unfortunately, but still pretty interesting.

It would be cool if we got a Monster hunter 2G demo

The Beauty Behind Licensed Shovelware

WTMG's Leo Faria: "Why do we do this? We are well aware that a specific licensed game isn’t good, yet we actually manage to be less critical, we manage to overlook its issues, and enjoy these tie-ins, these perfect definitions of the word “shovelware”, without an issue. What is it about these games that makes us more… tolerant? Is it the novelty of playing a game based on a license we like? Is it some kind of psychological effect that reminds us of simpler days? Does it mean that playing these games brings out the best version of the gamer inside of us?"

PlayStation 2: From A to Z - The Letter "H"

Drew Leachman writes: The From A to Z series lets our editors go back and take a look at games from past generations that are classics, overlooked gems, or just titles they remember fondly. The idea behind this is to pick five games from each letter of the alphabet, once a week to showcase. This delivers 26 weeks and 130 games to talk about. Hopefully it sparks some conversation, and of course plenty of memories.

Our second series will focus on Sony’s sophomore entry into the console business, the PlayStation 2.

Let’s continue with the letter “H”.
