But let's be real here. The game sets out to recreate the feeling of the classic mullet haired duo with updated visuals, a superb soundtrack, and a crazy difficulty; so as a remake of a classic, it succeeds beautifully. The younger generation might not appreciate the now ancient gameplay mechanics and grueling difficulty, but those that are in the mood for a video game history lesson, or veterans that wish to reminisce the old days on their shiny new consoles, should pick this up as soon as possible.
With River City Girls 2 arriving next week, it's time to look at the company's best!
"Digital games are more convenient than physical games, and usually cheaper too. Still, there's something about collecting physical games that appeals to many gamers. Preordering limited physical editions directly from boutique labels is always an option, but sometimes retailers offer the same editions for a better price. That's certainly the case with Best Buy, which currently has 14 Nintendo Switch titles from Limited Run up for preorder, including TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, Double Dragon Neon, and several more co-op hits," says Co-Optimus.
Limited Run Games is preparing physical editions for both Double Dragon Neon and Double Dragon IV for the Switch that include standard and Classic Limited Editions. Pre-orders go live on May 28th, 2021.
The original Double Dragon from the Arcades about 30 odd years ago was amazing at the time, i played Double Dragon Neon not long ago and it had totally lost all of its appeal, its either Double Dragon isnt that good anymore or Neon is a crap representative of the original..
I am loving it, "the megaman" boss intro was hilarious, it's a nicely crafted game that doesn't take itself too seriously, and the soundtrack is kick ass. Then again, i love retro gaming so it is right up my alley.
Yea, it's nice to see a retro classic like this make such a colorful comeback. Now all we need is Streets of Rage in HD. :)
