Battlefield 3 DLC – Armored Kill Review | PS3Blog.net

Madagasca from PS3Blog.net writes:

It’s been just a little over 3 months since Battlefield 3 Premium was released to the public and although it was widely accepted by majority of the gaming community, the subscription package still had a fair bit of convincing to do in order to ensure it’s success.

Very tempting .. but no time to game ;(

shackdaddy4267d ago

I've got a full schedule this week too :(

Finding it dull.I'm on pc version, looks amazing but maps are just too large & personally im finding it a chore, especially if the vehicles have been taken & you have to try to leg it anywhere. Ive taken to staying in a base to defend it rather than go off for miles to be killed by a tank.May grow into it, but prefer the original maps, even the close quarters to this. Just my opinion..

Its not that great. Not a 96/100 thats for sure.More like a 75/100.Im playing it on the PS3 and its by far the biggest let down in the DLC releases so far.The only way anybody can possibly like this is for the scenic drives you take from flag to flag. The only action in the game is on the flag that gives your side the AC-30 that is it.There great maps dont get me wrong but way to big for console and I even watch justin tv with the PC people playing it with 64 players and Its still to big.Everyone has complained about this so its not worth spending the money unles you like not using your guns.

Well the fact your playing it on console is the issue.

Your rite their bud im playing it on ps3 and to be honest the maps are too big 12v12 on maps 2-3 times bigger than caspian border and especially if half your team are occupying vehicles aswell theirs hardly anyone on foot.I dont know i hope it grows on me its a shame aswell i was looking forward to this.

There really beautiful maps but there not that fun. To me if you really are into flying the jet/heli and are capable of dominating the sky then its fun. Which is pretty much what i did for the first few days playing it. Then i tried giving that a rest and went for playing the ground game. Its boring. I get the point of it that everyone on the ground should pretty much be roaming around in a vehicle. The best way i think to play the maps(which this never happens if you play random games) is to get everyone to roam the map in one big group. Like i said it never happens. Then its kinda exciting.. but its more like your just sitting there for a random guy to come by to shoot with a tank destroyer as you puddle jump from flag to flag, and the games get settled pretty much by the tickets just bleeding out.Not really by sheer dominance of ground attacks like on the other maps. All you really need is 1 guy puddle jumping to each flag while a group keeps a few busy. Once you got it locked up just sit and base rape. even that gunship isnt that big of a deal to take on because a competent jet pilot will just fly on the side neither the gunners can see you coming and strife them with 2 gun runs and a few rockets and that things just done for.
For "armored kill" theres a little too much tank destroyer and ATV and not enough MBTs. They give you wayy to many atvs. I think the maps could use a MBT, another mobile AT. Tank superiority needs more than 1 MBT. Its not that bad of a game mode it just it gets lame because all you need is a few soflam/jav crews lined up.
Its not a huge let down but in all honesty.. this is the first time i've actually put down this game because it just not exciting. In over year this is pretty much was my go to game.. now its like after a week of armored kill i just lost the fun factor for myself.
I give it a 8/10 for the beauty of the maps- got negitive points for the way too much blue on death valley.
6/10 for gameplay-if i owned a PC game rig i would change my mind.
2/10 for lasting power. -same as before if i had a game pc i'd probably feel different but as its current state i think i'll pass on hour long drives through the Mt. side to see a random couple enemies here and there in a tank or on the ground.

Battlefield 3 Premium Part 2: Armored Kill and Aftermath

GamingLives takes a look at the Battlefield 3 expansions Aftermath and Armored Kill.

"When Battlefield 3 was first released it provided players with an atmospheric and detailed theatre of war with the high quality you would expect from the series. One of its strongest selling points was the vehicular combat, large open maps and the extra layer of strategy that this combination brings to the table. It came as little surprise then, that one of Battlefield’s expansion packs would focus on expanding an already diverse complement of vehicles and providing even bigger maps for budding soldiers of war to exert some strategic flair over large open terrain. At least, that would be the plan if you could get enough competent people to form something resembling a team, which unfortunately isn’t the only problem with this ambitious extension into open warfare, because for every smart and intuitive new feature, there will be someone or something that tarnishes its impact."

D+PAD’s 2012 DLC Awards | D+PAD Magazine

D+PAD Writes:

DLC is an intrinsic part of the gaming experience now, for better or worse. In the last two years there’s been a vast increase in day one DLC, and in season passes. It’s now expected for console games to have DLC by default, and even Nintendo have got in on the action recently with their first foray into paid DLC for their own games, after Shigsy himself said they wouldn’t bother.

DLC is a way of life, but while we look at video games of the year, we rarely celebrate it in the same way with teary-eyed retrospectives. Unlike the best of 2012 article, we’re handing out a few awards to the most note-worthy DLC we’ve experienced in 2012. Because each piece of DLC is so different that it’s really weird trying to judge them against each other.

Battlefield 3 DLC Armored Kill Review | Impulse Gamer

Impulse Gamer writes:

"First off it’s great that we get to see more maps and more themes for Battlefield 3. Better yet those themes so far have been coming with a few new weapons and tweaks to enhance the game play and fun factor. Armored Kill brings vehicles more into the mix. Not just with tanks, but a different vehicles to cause mayhem with such as ATV’s. Fast and maneuverable they are perfect to get you across the battle field."
