Daniel Craig again...how can you play levels from older Bond movies with a totaly differn't Bond...especialy one where he's more like Jason Bourne then James Bond.

BakedGoods4246d ago

You haven't read Fleming's novels have you? Craig is more like Bond than any of the previous ones.

Carl_Shocker4246d ago (Edited 4246d ago )

I highly doubt that...James Bond is a smooth talking, cool one liner, martini drinking spy with cool gagets....Craigs Bond is like Jason Bourne that attacks his enemies with brute force and is too serious in tone, don't get me wrong the films were good but he was like a tank in those films despite him supposingly being less experienced since he's just started out as 007....I mean if you were less experienced you would be using gimmicks such as gadgets, the enviroment and luck to help you out a lot more then Bond in the older films when he's been 007 for years.

Are you serious saying Craig bond is better then Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan.

With Casino Royale or Quantum of Solace there was nothing which really made it feel like a James Bond film, you could of called them spomething else and you wouldn't of been any wiser. However Skyfall does look like it's getting back into line with what made James Bond...James Bond.

GameSpawn4246d ago (Edited 4246d ago )

I'm not going to get into the debate of which Bonds are better than others, except that we can all (1) agree to disagree on the subject and (2) Lazenby aside being remembered for doing only one Bond movie should be forgotten as Bond. I mean really, did we even have to include ANYTHING from that train-wreck?

Also on the deal as Bond being portrayed as Daniel Craig, I understand they probably did it to make things simpler (only one model needed) and to try to remove there being too much juxtaposition while moving from one story to another and having Bond's look constantly change.

I think the reverse is actually the case (at least if you have already seen the respective films) and that there is a juxtaposition without the Bond look changing to reflect the original actor. I also think it is insulting to each of the original actors to not respect "their" Bonds. If I'm playing a level from GoldenEye, I want Bond to look like Brosnan, Thunderball -- Connery, Moonraker -- Moore, Licence to Kill -- Dalton, and so on.

Regardless of who's the best/worst Bond, I just hope they make a great Bond game... I'm not holding my breath though. It seems Bond games always come out mediocre, and the Bond license has so much potential to be incredible... like Batman has become with the Arkham series. I think Bond games are always developed in the way of a shooter, but they need to be more action game focused. IMO of course.

ChocolateGiddyUp4246d ago

Everyone has their own opinions and different strokes, yadda yadda yadda, but...do you think On Her Majesty's Secret Service is so much worse than the other movies they chose for this game?

I can't believe they included Die Another Day - the film where Bond drives an invisible car and fights a villain who uses his electrified Nintendo Power Glove to try and take over the world.

Also Moonraker...dear God, Moonraker!

KMCROC544246d ago

@GameSpawn if were going to exclude George Lazenby ( her majesty secret service)then Timothy Dalton (Licence to kill,The Living Daylights)from the list cause he blew chunks as 007.

Hope they make a comeback next gen

There were a few non-film ones back on PS2/GC that were really good.
I can imagine the cinematic elements of those games would look even better now.

DaReapa1446d ago

Everything or Nothing is my second best Bond game behind Goldeneye 64, followed by Nightfire.

fulldeepdive1446d ago

we have a lot of great video games and we have a lot coming out this year...lame

Godmars2901446d ago

What's happened to the James Bond franchise in general?

It, much like Star Trek, Star Wars, has had too much of the "real world" shoved down their throats. That plus people with agendas hijacking them thinking they can use brand value to deliver "transformative" messaging while lacking the awareness, the creative talent, needed to make them entertaining at even a base level.

Also, getting back on subject, doesn't help that movie studios don't see gaming studios as equals who need as much if not more time to do their jobs right.

Tross1446d ago (Edited 1446d ago )

Yeah, come to think of it. Maybe their absence can be attributed to the falling popularity of the videogame adaptation or even the licensed franchise tie-in, as well as the gaming landscape being quite different now than it was. The Bond titles filled a niche of FPS-action titles, the likes of which are not exactly uncommon nowadays. That said, the Bond games were a fun take on the genre that I'd like to see return one day.

DaReapa1446d ago

Activision's tenure with the license attributed to the lack of quality games.

roadkillers1446d ago

That's true. You couldn't get past the PS2 days without a movie tie in. Now, I can't think of the last game tie in.. even Star Wars was different

You'd think that a developer would release a 007 game more akin to a stealth franchise like Hitman by now to play up on Bond's espionage

I can remember more than a decade ago, the Goldeneye-esque shooters were fairly popular. Unfornately, Goldeneye-esque shouters seemed to die out after 2005, with the polarizing PDZ having a good online population for a few years. Conversely, the extremely content rich and well designed Timesplitters: Future Perfect underperformed in sales. As for bonds games, I haven't played one since 007 Nightfire (a personal favourite). I personally, think if 007 games (and Pefect Dark games) were to return, the titles should take influence from Deus Ex. With levels designed to allow the players to either play stealthy, uses gadgets or just shoot up the place.

5 Games that were obviously going to fail

There are many reasons why a highly anticipated game will fail such as toxic work environment or outdated game engine. Then there are the moments when it was obvious the game was going to be a failure, and yet the development team was oblivious to the red flags. This is a look at five games that were obviously going to fail but the development team ignored the red flags.

Some times it should be obvious when a game is going to be an epic failure.

I feel like Battleborne is the next game on this list. Nothing about it looks bad per say, but it's really not standing out, and no one really seems to care about it (including me) it's just like that pretty normal kid that sits at the edge of class no one really pays much attention to.

Masterchief_thegoat3092d ago (Edited 3092d ago )

resident evil 6 was already doom, when i was playing it with the ps3 controller. qte ,camera story.killing wesker was dumb mistake to replace him with a boring character. re6 was a big mess
