Smash Bros characters who need to be dropped for Wii U and 3DS

For while Sakurai recently revealed that he's enjoying makingnew moves for new Smash Bros characters, he has also said in the past that the current roster as it stands reached its limit with Super Smash Bros Brawl. That means there is no room for more new characters unless some are dropped.

Sonic should remain a permanent addition to Smash Bros. He even has his on Nintendo crossover series with Mario

RivetCityGhoul4262d ago

they should just drop all the third party characters, the series is better off without them. what they should really do is bring back Roy.

Relientk774262d ago (Edited 4262d ago )

I like using Lucas and Sonic, so I'll say no to them

I definitely agree with others like Lucario, Olimar, Jigglypuff, and ROB tho

vickers5004262d ago

Bring back Mewtwo and replace him with Lucario. I missed him in brawl :(

kcuthbertson4262d ago

I frigging love lucario...

I absolutely own with him. It'd be ok to replace him with Mewtwo again though. But don't drop him all together, there's no one else that plays like him.

What makes sense is to drop characters that play almost identically.

Reverent4262d ago (Edited 4262d ago )

Agreed.

Fox/Falco/Wolf.

Link/Toon-Link.

Captain Falcon/Ganondorf.

Lucas/Ness

Mario/Luigi.

Lol, and people b*tch about Evil Cole in PSASBR. Personally, I wouldn't miss Falco or Luigi.

EPIKgamer4262d ago

Why would they get rid of a main character like Olimar, also Mewtwo had his time so I think they should bring Zoroark as the next 2 legged badass.

AWBrawler4262d ago

hell no! Jigglypuff is my deadliest character!
Jig-Unit!

One thing's for sure: Mario will stay.

NukaCola4262d ago

Why drop anyone? Are we running out of memory or something? The more the merrier. and JigglyPuff is a beast. Those who can master him have the power to defeat anyone.

Reverent4262d ago (Edited 4262d ago )

Funny you say that... In Melee, the very last event match where you had to fight the three giants at the highest possible difficulty; the only character I could ever use to beat that one with was Jigglypuff. Spammed the Down-B attack. Lol.

AWBrawler4262d ago

jigglypuff with a fan is unbeatable in the right hands. spam that damn a button and bring em close to u and use down B when they are over 80% instant KO everytime. my friends banned me from using fans or jigglypuff

Reverent4262d ago

AWBrawler, me too! I am in the exact same situation, I sh*t you not lol.

Erimgard4262d ago

Drop Ness? Hell no.
Just because the Mother/Earthbound series didn't sell that well doesn't mean Ness should be removed from Smash Bros. He's a cult classic with a big following. He's a fantastic character, and he's a great choice in Smash Bros. Lucas can go, since he's just a clone, but saying Ness should go...I've killed for less.

Chidori4262d ago

Nes and Lucas are two completely different characters. The only thing they really share are the baseball bat, which both work completely different. Other than that, their entire moveset are distinguishably different. The same goes for Fox, Falco and Wolf *to the others that call them clones*. Falco was a clone in melee almost, but while Falco shares a few things with Fox in brawl like the jetpack, reflector and the Up smash, they all work so completely different lol. People that make these claims obviously didn't explore the characters enough. The only character I would really consider a clone is Ganondorf. He's literally a bigger slower stronger Falcon.

Nes is definitely the better character though, but I'll be happy to see them both return on the Wii U. Lucario can go. Mewtwo will always be the biggest badass of a Pokemon. ROB kinda sucks too so he can go.

Erimgard4261d ago

Their mechanics are a little different, but they have very, very similar movesets.

100% agreed on Ganondorf/Captain Falcon.

What Super Smash Bros. owes SNK and Terry Bogard

While some Smash fans may have hoped for a more recognizable character, Super Smash Bros. as a whole has borrowed so much from SNK games that Terry is a natural fit. In fact, an SNK character probably should have been included much earlier.

Super Smash Bros. didn’t just emerge, fully formed, as a way for Nintendo to keep contemporary characters in the front of our minds while introducing newer players to classic characters, games, and even music. The series owes a lot to SNK, and The King of Fighters.

Interesting how many elements of Fatal Fury and King of Fighters is in SSB

Japanese censors demanded panty checks for female SSB characters during development

When Super Smash Bros. Creator, Masahiro Sakurai, showcased Smash Ultimate's latest guest fighter, Terry Bogard, he brought up the fact that one of Fatal Fury's most popular characters, Mai Shiranui, would not be making an appearance in the game at all and alluded to her sexual nature as the main reason.

It turns out that Sakurai and his team had a bit of a back and forth with CERO during the development of Super Smash Bros. for Wii-U circa 2012 as the rating organization actually asked the Smash team to turn female characters upside down for panty shot angles.

Well now it makes sense why some of the character clothes in smash Bros was changed

Abriael1626d ago (Edited 1626d ago )

Censors? CERO isn't a censorship organization. It's a rating board and it's no more censors than the ESRB.

They don't ask you to censor your game. They give you a rating depending on its content, no more, no less. If you want a lower rating than what you're given, that's on you.

Teflon021626d ago

Stop playing dumb lol.
You know Nintendo is aiming for a low board rating so they have to censor to get it based on what the board deems reason to raise it

Abriael1626d ago (Edited 1626d ago )

@Teflon02: I'm well aware, but that's on Nintendo. They have the freedom to keep the content intact and accept a higher rating. It doesn't make CERO into "censors" in any shape or form.

That's simply not what a rating board is. Censors dictate content. A rating board does not. It assigns a rating based on the existing content.

TK-661626d ago

Then that's on Nintendo, and not the ratings board.

TK-661626d ago

Yeah, I'm not seeing the issue with them asking to see if characters actually have underwear modeled. That would actually be reason to give the game a higher age rating. If Sakurai included them and Nintendo then removed them to achieve a lower age rating that would've made Nintendo the censors.

A rating board has every right to ask for this to accurately rate the game.

bluefox7551626d ago

Let's be honest, a game won't be sold by retailers in the US if it has an AO rating, they have power over the industry, even if they're only a "rating board".

Abriael1626d ago

That's completely unrelated, and the rating board still does not require any change to the content. The developer has full freedom to distribute the game via other means.

Calling a rating board "censors" couldn't be less accurate. That's simply not their job.

annoyedgamer1626d ago

Ratings Org can shift around elements and the ratings they garner. Im not saying that was done here but it's heen done in the US feature films and the MPAA.

tehpees31626d ago

I hope they did not ask to check Dark Samus under that armour.

Tross1626d ago

That would be an interesting job duty, even if it’s in the name of censorship. Someone was literally paid to do a panty check on female characters, lulz.

Abriael1626d ago (Edited 1626d ago )

It's not in the name of censorship. It's in the name of not giving a CERO A rating (All ages) to a game that doesn't fit its content guidelines.

Tross1625d ago

It’s still dumb no matter what you call it. Equestria Girl dolls have panties. Are those not child-friendly? Besides, in talking about Japan, you don’t want to know what CoroCoro comics get away with. A panty shot or two might as well be CERO A.

Abriael1625d ago

@Tross: you're comparing entirely different industries with different rules.

ibrake4naps1626d ago

Games will show muscle men's nips, but God forbid a quick glimpse of princess Peach's vagina. Hypocrisy!!!
