Warface Interview - To be or not to be? | Gamereactor UK

At Gamescom this year Gamereactor's Gillen McAllister caught up with Warface's producer Peter Holzapfel, and he talked to us about Crytek's free shooter and how they plan to keep players interested.

We discussed the irony in the Hamlet-esque publicity shot: "Warface is a jump in, have fun, shoot people, kind of game. You'll see that when you play it... it's super accessible. Instant fun, basically. The question behind it is: to be, or not to be? It's the ultimate shooter question, in a way. So there is self-irony attached to it."

"It's not free to play, it's a free Crytek game" is a mantra being pursued by the company, and Holzapfel explains Crytek's thinking: "Free to play has this stigma attached to it, like mediocre quality, pay to win, and those are things that Crytek wants to stay away from.
