Dylan Martin of SideQuesting writes:
"Of the many, many indie games on display at PAX Prime this year, few seemed to be generating as much positive buzz as Moon Spider’s upcoming half-racer half-puzzler Harold. Originally slated for the Nintendo DS years ago, the game has since been beefed up for a full-scale downloadable release, a decision that CEO Loris Malek hopes will allow them to bring a “triple-A” level of polish to the adventures of the bumbling titular character."
GamesBeat: Instead of focusing on gaming’s past, Action Henk and Harold focus on specific eras of pop culture.
Gamespot:
Harold is a cleverly crafted, personality-packed infinite-runner platformer with visual style to spare. Its title character, however, is an awkward athlete and a bit of a loser, both literally and figuratively. Despite Harold's unwavering determination and enduring spirit, he does dumb things, like getting stuck in frozen dog pee and high-fiving a cactus. Thankfully, you don't assume the role of this doomed underdog, but of his equally-determined guardian angel Gabe. As this anime Zac Efron lookalike with wings, you help Harold complete a series of increasingly hazardous, side-scrolling races by manipulating environmental objects, messing with competitors, and giving the slow-moving marathoner an occasional speed boost.
Harold is a single player 2D side-scrolling racing platformer puzzle game where you play as Gabe the angel who controls Harold the human in a series of increasingly challenging races. While most racing games have you directly control the racer, your only real control of Harold is his jumping ability. The majority of the control is manipulating the obstacle course for each race. This is accomplished by the means of interacting with movable ramps, platforms, bridges, swinging on ropes or vines, and controlling simple mechanisms.
