Can Someone Tell Touchstone Turok Came Out Three Days Ago?

Kotaku has received quite a few emails this weekend from people saying they had picked up copies of Turok at their local stores. While it's not out of the ordinary for a game's street date to be broken by a single outlet, according to Best Buy, GameStop, GameCrazy and Wal-mart the game came out three days ago on Jan. 31. Apparently no one told this to the game's publisher, Touchstone. The official Turok website has a countdown clock that still has a little over two days left on it. The press materials and game websites like IGN and Gamespot also have it listed as a February 5th release. Is this a matter of a mass mistake on the retailers' part or is Touchstone being sneaky and letting the cat out of the bag early on purpose?

....is it any good? i mean the multiplayer looks decent, but that demo pretty much shot down my hopes for this game.........no cerebral bore...what a joke....

This game is really average man

mccomber5929d ago

Maybe they just said 'screw it' and decided to open up those boxes that were taking up space so the game can take up space on shelves. It's not like too many people are deliriously excited to get their hands on this title.

Neurotoxin5929d ago

Lol the game is Medicore at best, no wonder they released it early.

Frankenberg5929d ago

Gamestop helped me out. They only had one that had not been reserved and it did not have the plastic cover on the case. So what. I have enjoyed it. If you do not enjoy FPS, then you will not like it.

Neurotoxin5929d ago

I love FPS, but i did think this was mediocre, it did nothing new for the genre. Glad to hear you liked it though, as i`m sure many people will, its just not my cup of tea. Perhaps its because its on the PS3 that i didn`t like it, i hear the 360 version is the one to get.

Frankenberg5929d ago

I have both 360 & ps3. I opted for the 360 version for the achievements and the controller. I just can't get used to the ps3 controller yet. I will say this game is much harder than most on the easiest setting.

There is something to killing dinos that makes me want to start up the BarBQ pit.

Turok: A Game Series in Need of a Reboot

The Turok series has been languishing without a new title for more than a decade. It's about time we got a reboot.

closed_account345d ago

I'm all for it, I loved the originals... I just don't think, just like w the original Prey, that the main character can survive in this current political climate. Native characters seem untouchable at the moment. I think it can be shown the right respect, but there's always someone getting upset about something these days, they would find a way to cancel it.

BriBri345d ago

I can't think of a game that's been cancelled because of the race of the main character.

Vits345d ago

Honestly, I would prefer if they just ported/remastered Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion to modern platforms. So we could have access to the "original 3 games". Because I don't see how to really reboot Turok. It's a product of its time being a mixture of platforming/fps and puzzle.

And I really don't see all those elements being preserved on a Reboot.

potatoseal345d ago

I would prefer Dino Crisis remake from Capcom. Still, a remade Turok would get my attention.

Forgets about the 2008 reboot*
I'd rather have a sequel to Turok 3, tbh.

GoodGuy09345d ago (Edited 345d ago )

We unfortunately do not have enough quality dino games. Theres Horizon but they're robots, and Monster Hunter that I can only think of. I'd like to see Turok make a comeback some day.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad597d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games
