Might pick up Sorcery... 14.99 is not a bad price.

Nimblest-Assassin4295d ago

Anyone else wondering why these games are dropping to such low prices?

Is it to sell them and increase sales? Because all the uncharteds for 50 dollars is a steal

Yodagamer4295d ago

It might be that, i saw that vita games have been lowered dramatically, which i can only assume is due to lackluster sales.

Christopher4295d ago

Probably dropping for GamesCon. More people buying and talking about Sony games, more hype overall.

WeskerChildReborned4295d ago

Idk but i'm just glad they got a price cut so now i can buy them.

BlackSharinganX4295d ago

probably this is to attract more peeps on the coming holidays

R_aVe_N4294d ago (Edited 4294d ago )

It is mainly due to Collections coming out real soon. They have announced 3 and will be a few more to follow. They announced GOW Saga, Infamous Collection and Ratchet and Clank. I would bet there will be an Uncharted Collection, Resistance Collection, and Move Collection on the way as well.

REALgamer4294d ago

@yodagamer - the vita prices actually aren't much different.

The prices range from $5-10 cheaper than their current PS Store RRPs.

Uncharted: $45 -> $40
Unit 13: $40 -> $30
ModNation: $27 -> $20

Not exactly "dramatic". Seems fairly normal being about 6 months after the release of most of them.

Jak and Daxter Collection for me.

Cyb3r4295d ago

Will this price drop be US only?

hardandsloppy4295d ago

I want to know if it's for Canada as well!!!

eferreira4295d ago

I hope canada as well. We always get the shaft

M83_4295d ago

@eferreira

Great! Another fucking bottom! :/

PS3isGAY4295d ago

Why not just drop them this week? I have money this week.

Neo Nugget4295d ago

$15 for Sorcery?

Didn't that *just* come out?

ChunkyLover534295d ago

Just came out, but sold like 14 copies. I actually bought a new copy on release. Short game, but for a Move only game its pretty fun.

DarkTower8054295d ago

Lol 14 copies. Seriously though, aside from people that frequent gaming sites, who did Sony think would know about this game? Sony marketing team fail once more. At $15 I might pick it up and dust off my move.

dcbronco4295d ago

Sony can't help the marketing right now. I'm not sure where people think they will; get the money to advertise every release. They just lost over 6 billion. And just lowered their profit projection for this year. The Vita was a big part of those profits and it hasn't sold like they expected.

But on topic this is a good move. Lowering the price on software makes the hardware more attractive. With the coming release of the PS3 re-make and the profit margins on Vita hardware it should increase their install base on both.

MoonConquistador4295d ago

@dcbronco - actually they do have the money, they just choose to spend it on sponsorship of The Champions League, trying to still brand associate themselves with the major events. money that would be better spent advertising the PS3, Vita and all the exclusive games they have. X box ads are always more dynamic and show off their system better.

Lvl_up_gamer4295d ago (Edited 4295d ago )

@ moonconquistador

What you just said means that Sony doesn't have the money. Sony has a certain marketing budget for each department under Sony. Each department gets a certain % of the overall marketing budget Sony has. In many cases departments get a portion of their marketing and advertising budget reduced to assist other departments to help with a certain marketing campaign if it's needed. Therefore Sony doesn't have th money if money is taken out of 1 department to assist another department. Sony has to determine what marketing campaign get priority. If Sony had the money then they wouldn't need to choose where to spend their marketing budget, they would have the money for all departments not leaving any departments with no money for their campaigns.

MS is a a great example of almost an endless supply of marketing budget which is why we see big budget advertisements for halo titles, gears titles and forza titles and why MS is so well known for their mass marketing campaigns.

Ben_Grimm4295d ago

Remember when the folks on N4G hyped up Sorcery and said this would be the Move killer game to have and it would sell more Move units?

This just goes to show that N4G does not equel the outside consumer and we should never take the opinions of a few people here as fact.

dcbronco4295d ago (Edited 4294d ago )

@MoonConquistador

Sony is probably contractually obligated to sponsorship deals. They might be stuck there but they can pick and choose when to do commercials. They did for Killzone 3 and it didn't payoff. TV advertising is really expensive. In DC a 30 second add in the middle of the night cost 10K on the local Fox station. Primetime is terrible. American Idol was charging $950,000 for a 30 second commercial and that was five or six years ago.

I'm sure the NFL games, which is more like the audience they want, is charging several hundred thousand per commercial. So when you're facing bankruptcy you don't spend hundreds of millions for TV ads that might not get seen because someone flipped to the other network during commercials. Holding onto that money will bring you closer to hitting your profit projections and not getting your stock downgraded again.

@Ben Grimm

Sony fans on N4G are a vocal minority. Unfortunately for them I think for too long Sony actually listened to people like them. But they know now that they can't. That's why they went from six major exclusives last year to a couple this year. They don't sell well enough to make the money back that was put into them too often.

Sweet they finally dropped the price of the Jak & Daxter collection to $20. I might pick up GOW origins collection for $20 since I already have 1&2 collection and GOW3. People will prolly just wait for the GOW collection with all the games.

TheFallenAngel4294d ago

Dude God of War origins is awesome! Ghost of Sparta should of been a PS3 game instead of a psp game.

BigStef714294d ago

I agree. I loved both of them on psp and played them so much lol. I've heard the origins collection was a great upgrade so I can't wait!!!

srcBFMVBMTH4294d ago

Agreed. I actually wouldn't mind them re-making the entire God of War series on PS5 or something, that series is just too epic.
