GRID 2 won't feature a cockpit view - Codemasters claims that only the 5% of racing gamers use it

i never used it to seriously race, id use it to kinda get the feel as to what it'd be like to drive that car, all racing games should have it though cause its a pretty cool view

Well, they lost a customer, I only use the cockpit view in games. This is kind of ironic as I have been playing a lot of dirt 2 and 3 lately, and they both have the cockpit view.

Forza 4 had by far the most realistic cockpit view especially when using head tracking.

Cockpits graphically are the best on console, but in terms of the view I prefer Forza 4 because its a bit further back. GT5 has the camera to close. But on topic, it doesn't really matter about this game having no cockpit, it was never a sim in the first place so why did people expect any different

You can adjust how close the camera is to the windscreen in GT5.

Think you just need to hit pause in cockpit view and choose one of three options.

Agreed. Still to this day, I haven't seen a more detailed account of what the inside of a vehicle looks like.

OT: That's kind of a surprise. To stay competitive, most racing / driving games of late at least offer the option.

Nope. I hate playing with the view behind the car, it feels as if though it is a remote control car.

My lap times and aggressiveness when passing are much approved when in cockpit view.

I like seeing how far the wheel is turned, and seeing the guy shift and in the case of Dirt 2 and 3, watching mud and water splash on the screen and using the wipers to get it off.

Races are really fun in cockpit view.

I know that you are depressed of the game not having cockpit view, but there are a lot of amazing and fun racing games that don't have cockpit view, and don't judge the game before it's complete (as a gamer only), surely there isn't cockpit view for reasons, which I'm sure are
1. The game is too arcad-ish,
2. They cannot detail them to be enough visually impressing to players.
3. Saves them money, time, computing resources for other details.

But either way, I feel you man, I really had hopes for this to be a fun + realistic racing game, seems to go in the direction of mario kart style games, where the game does almost everything for you, easy and unrealistic steering and shitty and easy feel to it.

I like the idea of cockpit view, but for lap times I am always faster playing with the camera set to bumper or bonnet... So no big deal for me. Mir I want a cockpit view I'll fire up GT5

Yeah, I find I can do better with bumper cam than cockpit, but if I want the most authentic experience I go for cockpit.

So I like having both options.

When I'm focusing on the result - bumper
When I want a bit more challenge and realism - cockpit

GRID is Arcade/Simulator, cockpit view is great only for simulators.
