OXMUK writes: We published a list of 2012's best Xbox 360 games so far this week, from the sprawling Mass Effect 3 to the tightly wound Spelunky. Here's the inevitable follow-on feature, a selection of this generation's remaining key releases along with thoughts about how they're shaping up.
Following the Wii U and 3DS servers being taken offline, Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and Ghosts are officially dead.
Call of Duty players are jumping into Black Ops 2 for the final time before its Wii U servers go offline for good.
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell has been out of action for a decade, so it's time to look back at 2013's Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
Sam Fisher is evidently the most skilled stealth operative because no-one has seen him in his own game for years
The entire mark and execute system belonged in another game.
It’s cool, but the polar opposite to how Sam Fisher initially handled.
The original trilogy made shooting very, very difficult, yet a viable option, which ultimately motivates stealth.
The mark/execute system makes shooting stupid easy, to the point of why would you even bother trying stealth as an alternative?
The sad part is that I actually really enjoyed the last game, Blacklist. It may have lacked the iconic voice but the gameplay was excellent, and blended stealth, action and a mix really great compared to most games, where none of the three options felt like the wrong way to play. I really hope they either produce a remake of the original game or a proper sequel.
It's weird how Halo 4 has come on. Literally six months ago, I thought they were going to completely &*!£ it up. Now, it's top of my preorder list.
Its really hard to say "last blockbusters" because Microsoft will support the Xbox 360 even after the Xbox 720 launches. Not much will change, we just wont see the usual 2-3 exclusives a year like the past couple of years.
I'm sure Call Of Duty, Battlefield and a lot of other blockbusters will release on the Xbox 360 and PS3 even after the next consoles are out.
Nice to see Microsoft treat their fans to some epic games this late in the cycle. You could make a complaint that they didn't offer a ton of new IP's to close out the generation, but they are giving us plenty of blockbuster titles and the arcade games have just gotten better and better.
Chunky my man
You are dumb and stupid if you think ms have more studios lol. How old are you 8? Sony owns 15 studios and also have 5-8 2nd party studios get your facts straight
And I hate the fact people saying well ms knew everyone in core gaming community already bought Xbox360, are you kidding me ps2 sold 150 plus million you think core gamers are 60 million? It's not even worth it with you
A lot of people have been turned off by MS and their pursuit of kinect family based system and next time around when Sony launches at the same ime hey will not have the advantage of going out first and wii u will already be out too. You take the first year of xbox360 out and os3 has outsold the xbox360 and that's a fact
Early adapters are not stupid so hey won't rush to buy a system just because it's a new console and this time around the choices are more wii u,ps4 and xbox720.
In my case I bought xbox360 at launch and ps3 at launch but next time I am getting os4 and wii u just because 3rd party games are on every console so you have to look at exclusive content to to me personally the spect of Sony and Nintendo exclusives hold a lot more weight than MS since S has a track record of buying study and turning them into turd. Yeh I am looking at you rare
Whats a os3 and a os4? If your going to call other people dumb and stupid then atleast make sure your spelling is correct.
You are probably correct about the ps3 outselling the 360 if it wasn't for the year headstart but thats mainly because Japan doesn't buy microsoft. Also there hasn't been alot of ps3 exclusives this year, especially triple a titles. Sony has already said this holiday season they are going to focus more on the family games
If ms wanted new ops they would fund it .
