The Success of Tony Hawk HD Means... What?

Tony Hawk HD came out in July, which is a remake of Tony Hawk 1 and 2 that first showed up on the Xbox 360. For this generation of consoles, Tony Hawk has been an afterthought. Tony Hawk Ride and Shred were not what gamers deserved this generation. But Tony Hawk HD was released and has been successful so far. What does this mean for the franchise in the long run?

I really hope gamers see more HD remakes of Tony Hawk.

... of 7 levels from 2 old (GREAT) games, and totally get away with it, cause fans just buy it anyway.

I much rather would have seen a HD-release of Tony Hawk 2x.

I didn't find many problems with it, not really any bugs anyway. Also, the game was from the PS1 era, its pretty amazing that the game looked and played as well as it does.

Why do you think we don't see PS1 era HD remakes?

I think it means there is still an audience for Tony Hawk games, but you need to keep them simple and fun like the earlier editions. That Tony Hawk Ride add on was just too much in my opinion.

......it's gonna come to Vita : D..?

Yi-Long4301d ago

The Dreamcast also had a great version of Tony Hawk 2, and later the Xbox ALSO received Tony Hawk 2x, which even had 5 extra levels.

They could have ported THAT version over in HD.

That SE might do Kingdom Hearts HD at some point in time?

WeskerChildReborned4301d ago

Kinda off topic but that would be amazing.

I might actually get Tony Hawk HD though.

Only thing bugging me with this game (and many games nowadays) is the exclusion of split-screen. =[

It means that Nostalgia is a powerful thing and can be a cash cow if exploited properly.

Don't bother, it's a poor remake

FalloutWanderer20772500d ago (Edited 2500d ago )

That bad huh? Not even worth $1.99 bad? I would have sworn that there was a new Tony Hawk Pro Skater game in development, I might be confusing that with this "HD remaster" however. Loved the 1st two THPS games back in the day, they were tons of fun with killer soundtracks! "If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man, You win some, lose some, it's all the same to me, The pleasure is to play, makes no difference what you say, I don't share your greed, the only card I need is The Ace Of Spades!"
I remember buying my little brother the 1st Skate game after it released, he was big into skateboarding at the time. I didn't have a lot of experience with the game but what I played was fairly realistic, with great visuals and physics for the time. Skate 3 released back in 2010 so we're way overdue for a worthy skateboarding game, a Skate 4 could be really good with today's gaming tech. advances and hardware capabilities. It will never happen but could you imagine a skateboarding game utilizing a physics engine like Euphoria that's used exclusively in Rockstar games, it would be incredible.

Saying you like the first two THPS and quote a song from THPS 3 lol. Anyways, I really want a true remake of THPS 4 or THUG 1.

FalloutWanderer20772499d ago

@madforaday I thought Ace of Spades was in THPS 1 or 2, didn't know it was in 3. I liked 3 as well. All 3 games had excellent soundtracks. It's been so many years since I've played them though, it's easy to get them mixed up.

It's worse than the games before it in the series (ignoring Tony Hawk Shred) but it's still worth $2.

It's not a great sale and doesn't bode well for Battleborn being price cut already.
