If the original entries of the mega-popular Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series taught players anything about great skateboarding video games, it’s first and foremost that it was possible for them to exist. It accomplished this by adhering to two fundamental principles: A) enticing the player to take huge risks for rewards is an absolute necessity; and B) the more intuitive and seamless the interaction between the player and game, the more empowered they will be to take big risks by stringing together huge combinations of grab tricks, flip tricks, rail and lip grinds, manuals (balancing the board on two-wheels) and a variety of other techniques with ease.
