Street Fighter X Tekken PS Vita producer: ‘fighting genre is hot right now’

Street Fighter X Tekken is making its way to PS Vita, courtesy of developer Capcom. Producer Tomoaki Ayano has explained why he feels fighting games are in such high demand these days.

I thought this game wasn't selling well?

yeah HOT with DLC, you elite money stealing scum

The fighting genre WAS hot.. it's now gone the way of military fps games and become over saturated. In the next two months alone we have Persona 4, Dead or Alive 5 and TT2 plus most likely the Guilty Gears PSN/XBLA release. That's far too many fighting games to release in two months.. Dead or Alive 5 and Tekken Tag are literally released like within two weeks of each other.

What killed this game was their planned reliance on GaaS with the whole gem system. It made little sense and made the game extremely unbalanced. Not to mention the unbalance of most of the characters, especially on the Tekken side

Ahhh the game that Capcom had DLC on the disc on release yet you had to pay to unlock it

Street Fighter & Tekken - A Mash-Up Not Meant for Greatness

VGChartz's Daniel Parker: "Tekken and Street Fighter - two giants of the head-to-head fighting genre. A clashing of decades-old titans that was once thought to be a dream matchup that would never happen. It ignited a flame of excitement that quickly fizzled out and became a cautionary tale for game developers."

The inclusion of gems ruined it from the start.
