i kind of thought the companions were a bunch of self absorbed douchebags. they never talked of doing good for the sake of it, just about coin and battle and the honor of ysgrammor (sp?). granted they did perform some good deeds, but most of their quests were about them. it would have been nice to see a group of genuinely stalwart protectors, like the knights of the nine. that was a great add on. anyway, just my 2 cents. good article though.

EVERY group in Skyrim were a bunch of self absorbed douchebags. I mean, sure Oblivion had it's share of jerks, but seriously. It's like everbody that stopped and talked to you in Skyrim (aside from my beloved Khajiit) just treated you like trash.

Game really needed to give me the option to retort, especially since I could have fought the entire freaking country at once and won.

you have a point. even after i'm harbinger of the companions, head of the thieves guild, head of the dark brotherhood, dragonborn saviour of skyrim, thane of every town, etc....people still want to break my balls like i couldn't kill them with a word and steal their souls.

Yeah, the knight of the nine sidequest in Oblivion was more satisfying

I thought the companions were better than the imperials or the stormcloaks. The individuals in charge of both of those groups were egotistical dickheads, especially the stormcloaks.

At least there is some mention of honor with the companions. Also they do serve their community by killing random beasts and helping people in need.

Everyone in Skyrim is an asshole, and I think that's kind of the point. The developers must be very cynical.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast44d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22944d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko44d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave44d ago (Edited 44d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
