Telltale for Game of Thrones?

A new feature on MasonicGamer.com called Future Outlook: Quicktime events and moral system in games isn’t an uncommon thing in games these days. However, a lot of games don’t quite nail it the way that The Walking Dead did it for me, and I’m hoping it did for others as well. The mix of episodic gameplay and a moral system gives another boost to this concept. Adding to that, the fact that I’m not a fan of quicktime events, I’d say Telltale has worked out a way to make it work. They might be the answer for our long awaited (decent) Game of Thrones game....

I would be all for that, but I'm not sure if I would prefer the story driven experience that Telltale delivers, or something more RPG oriented like a Bethesda game...

I would like a story driven one better as a proper RPG (y'no exploring the world and stuff) wouldn't really work because Westeros is so big.

Maybe a system like Borderlands where it's a series of locales you fast travel to.

While that would be good, I would be disappointed if it didn't account for the time the journey would take, and if it did then that would also affect the story.

After there work so far with the walking dead, I would say sign me up. Could be amazing. I would also like to see a really good game of throngs rpg too. I dont think the big wig rpg companies would touch it tho. Maybe someone like obsidian tho. Make it happen.

I'm still too heartbroken from Jurassic Park. Maybe I should try The Walking Dead game before I dismiss Telltale from Game of Thrones.

If you want a good story in the Game of Thrones universe, check out Cyanides RPG. The graphics are really bad, and the gameplay is essentially a really bad Dragon Age, but the storyline, characters and general tale is pure Game of Thrones goodness. Seriously amazing stuff.

Gamers Need a Good Game of Thrones Game

So far, every Game of Thrones game has been far from memorable. None of them stand up to the books or shows. Will there ever be a truly great video game based on the saga?

I wonder what's the deal with this series and is so famous, last time I was watching a small part of the last season episode and most of the time was talk and staring (alot of Dinklage staring lol) , talk more and staring each other again, and again and again and again, and then a Dragon appeared and later Zombie appeared and guess what ?, more stating!, heck I think the Dragon and Zombie stare a bit lol.

SegaGamer2430d ago

I agree, i don't get it's success either.

Just not by Bethesda

I don't mind them saying something like "Oh we don't have anything to tell you about Elder Scrolls VI because we are working on other new projects" because fair enough...new, exciting projects are always good BUT to have one of these games be Game of Thrones which would basically be a watered down Elder Scrolls would defeat the point. By watered down I mean the fantasy world in GoT is cool and all but ES has a broader range when it comes to the fantasy aspect, hell magic in GoT is tiny compared to the stuff within the ES Universe. I would rather have ESVI if that's the case.

I think the people to make GoT would be CD Projekt Red...but then I'd rather see them focus on Cyberpunk

People don't seem to get the bigger picture, they just see "GoT Game" and their fanboy self looses their shit...I'm looking at this long term, would I want a capable developer wasting time on one when I could see something new from them which isn't restricted by the GoT license.

I would love a TES style Game of Thrones game. Have it take place either before or after the show/books, let us make our own character (choose which house to start under, profession, etc), then just drop us into the world and let us live in the lore and forge our own stories. We got a Dragon Age styled one, that was bad and the TT one was meh. Granted I'm dying waiting for TES6, which I don't believe they aren't working on their biggest selling and most anticipated IP but if anyone can make a good GOT game it would be Bethesda or even like you said CDPR.

I'd love to see GoT game from CD Projekt for sure ! Now they are in the last years of development, and after it support the game as they always did with Witcher series, they could pick up the GoT for a spin, without any restriction like it happened in the Witcher. Plus this would allow for the Witcher series to rest until possible a new game and an amazing GoT adaptation by one of the best studios in the world for me that is well known for adapting books already.

So that would put in their hands one of the biggest franchises atm and Cyberpunk which i'm so damn excited for
