IGN:
It’s interesting that Nintendo has opted to launch the 3DS XL with two titles aimed at those with a creative bent. In the case of New Art Academy, there’s a fairly obvious logic behind it, as the expanded screens naturally offer a grander canvas on which to sketch or paint your own miniature masterpiece. Consider, too, that the original DS title sold half a million copies in the UK alone – following its debut in two parts on the DSiWare service - and you can imagine this being something of a system-seller for a certain audience. As with the first title, New Art Academy is an accomplished and genuinely educational package that’s just missing one or two features which could have made it even better.

"Register a Nintendo 3DS XL with Club Nintendo by January 15th, 2013 and you'll be eligible to claim one of five top Nintendo 3DS titles to download from Nintendo eShop. Then, once you've downloaded your game directly to your Nintendo 3DS XL system, you'll be able to take it with you wherever you go!"
As 2013 slowly cranks into gear, Nintendo of Europe has released details of what Europeans can expect in this week's download update. It's another week with no additions on the Wii U eShop, but the 3DS, DSi and Wii equivalents all have some content to consider. Is any of it going to get your year started with a bang?
Details of this week's European update have arrived, and they're perhaps not the fireworks we'd hope for at this time of year. There's still some variety across all platforms and a long awaited app arrives, though the price may surprise some.
