Warning: Do Not Tell The Mainstream Media About Gotham City Impostors

The Department of Electronic Entertainment warns: "Make no mistake about this: If anyone at CNN learns about this game, it will be described as “A game where children are encouraged to dress up as the Joker and kill people with guns.” The instant that anyone at ABC News notices that some of the character avatars are female it will then be called “A game where players are encouraged to dress up as The Joker and murder women.”

GCI is an extremely cartoony game. It doesn't take itself seriously in the slightest bit. If the media targets this. They're just looking for attention.

Amazingmrbrock4297d ago

They're always looking for attention. The news is rarely relevant world news and mostly over hyped minor shenanigans.

guitarded774297d ago (Edited 4297d ago )

The media is such a joke. Scary thing is, most people are sheep and believe every little thing.

I would gladly compare the number of murders committed because of "video games" and those committed because of religion in the last year.

@Amazingmrbrock
Your comment made me think of this.

SilentNegotiator4297d ago

Why make an article calling attention to not call attention to something?

Skizelli4297d ago (Edited 4297d ago )

I understand what you're trying to say, but people will kill each other, whether religion exists or not.

Nimblest-Assassin4297d ago (Edited 4297d ago )

You remember the fox news fiasco with Mass effect?

Both CNN and Fox's GTA4 nonsense?

If Assassin's Creed 3 has you killing someone important in American History they will jump on it

Its hilarious these guys have a games and films section

The "profiler" imediately broguht video games into the subject, saying they would get pshycopaths in a killing mood... when the shooter is a huge fan of guitar hero\

What... he played the fire and flames to pump him up to kill people? Its a joke when people try to connect video games to crime rates... why not blame books and movies as well? Because they are not IN- TA-RA-CT-AVE

I hate when they use interactive as an attempt to say... yeah it gets people ready to do crime

News and media should stay the F*** away from games... because they have no idea what they are talking about, and those uniformed on games believe every word they said

My mom gave me a long talk after the death of Brendon Crisp... a kid who was addicted to COD4, and ran away when his parents took his xbox... the Canadian news painted the game as a simulator that the military uses to train soldiers.. and rather than talking to normal players... they find the addicts and people who game for a living

I FACEPALMED WHEN THE ANCHOR ASKED A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE ESRB "THIS GAME DOES NOT INFORM PARENTS, SAYING WARNING PARENTS... THIS GAME HAS VIOLENCE AND LETS YOU SHOOT PEOPLE"

IF YOU LOOK ON THE BACK OF THE MOTHERF**KING BOX... YOU SEE THE AGE IT WAS INTENDED FOR.. AND WHAT THE GAME CONTAINS... ALSO THERE IS A GUY WITH A GUN ON THE FRONT OF THE BOX....WHAT DID YOU THINK THE GAME WAS ABOUT? F***ING UNICORNS?

Not only did the represanitve say this... the anchor complained saying it doesn't warn parents -_-

Brendan Crisp and I were the same age at the time, 15... except I never bough an M-rated game till I was 16 (assassins creed 2 and 1)

I wasted 5 hours of life explaining why their "idea" was false to my mother... cuz she freaked out when I was playing Uncharted: Drakes Fortune around the time he died

The_Devil_Hunter4297d ago

Oh my welcome to my world, my parents were the exact same. I once took my mothers car for a ride to my soccer game and she flipped out on me saying that i learned how to drive from all those games where you steal cars -_- Whats next i steal a bag of chips from the supermarket and im the took the idea from pickpocketing in Assassin's Creed. Also my mom use to believe Pokemon and Yugioh where satanic. Ugh. I hated my childhood because of this.

KwietStorm_BLM4297d ago

You almost say that as if it would be out of the question.

WeskerChildReborned4297d ago

Exactly, CNN needs to lay off the whole "gaming kills" when people are the ones who kill.

I've played mainly mature games all my life and never once did i think to re-enact anything from them.

I see it this way, games don't make you a psycho, being a psycho makes you a psycho.

mynameisEvil4297d ago

One of the my first two games was Mortal Kombat... Years later, I can happily say I've never killed anyone, nor planned an elaborate murder scheme.... or wanted to pull someone's spine out, use my hat as a saw, or, worst of all, wear sunglasses, tattoo my name on my chest, and be obnoxious.

Just sayin'.

avengers19784296d ago

This is crazy... People are A$$Ho7es, they do crazy shit like this all the time, Columbine, OKC bombing, none this had anything to do with anything other than the people who did it were D!*ks.
Why not ban relationships Because Ill bet my last dollar that more people are killed every year due to heart break than video games.
This current stupid prick is only after his 15 minutes, he's not crazy, he's just a tiny little b!tch.

Nothing to do with video games, movies, music, books, or any of that other crap... I've been subjected to violence my whole life, and the worst of it comes from real life, not the made up ones... If there were any kind of link between these things wouldnt a majority of us be knife wielding gun toting loonies

Its funny, this is supposed to simply make fun of CNN....yet its entirely true at the same time. CNN has some of the biggest nimrods in "news" anywhere, and Fox is right there with them.....

I just kinda laugh because people constantly say GAME journalism is dead, yet look at how horrible mainstream journalism has gotten.

Uh...isn't writing an article on the web about this, kind of goes against the author's point?

iXenon4297d ago

I thought the same thing. It's like Lex Luthor telling his minions "don't let Superman know I put Kryptonite in Lois Lane's purse" right in front of Superman.

cleft54297d ago

Not everything needs to be a joke guys.

OC_MurphysLaw4297d ago

Agreed... I would rather we not go to the low hanging fruit level. It was a horrible, horrible act of violence that doesn't need any more coverage...whether funny or not. All that Dbag wants is for the media to keep talking about it and glorify his shit bag of a life. Don't give him the satisfaction...just let him rot away in a cell or hang him by the neck but be done with it already.

All Star Heroes: Top 10 DC Comics Video Games

Warner Brother's DC Entertainment has been known for putting out (mostly) consistent content for years, and that includes forays into video games. Given that DC focuses a lot more on their solo characters, particularly Batman, Superman and Green Lantern, than Marvel does, its no wonder that DC has had an easier time adapting their IP's to other trans-media proprieties. While Marvel's team movie effort The Avengers has proven wildly successful, DC's Dark Knight trilogy, recent Man of Steel film and the entire animated universe helmed by DC animation veteran Bruce Timm has defined an era of superhero cartoons and direct-to-dvd animated features.

Man, DC Comics hasn't had great luck with games, has it? They had to resort to a few pretty average games to fill out the list.

So I Heard You Like Cosplay: Calgary Comic Expo Day 1

The first day of 2013′s Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo (CCEE) has wrapped up, and boy do I have a lot of cosplay photos for you. It seems the likes of Nathan Fillion, Peter Dinklage, Carrie Fischer and Stan Lee draw in quite a few people–somewhere around the 50,000 mark–and quite a few of those people decided to dress up for your viewing pleasure.

I snapped pictures of hobbits, wizards, psychotic clowns, batmen, mechromancers and the one and only Homestar Runner. Personally, my favorite cosplay of the day was the Splicer I caught on my way out of the Expo. He was committed to being quite creepy. Oh, and all the Adventure Time cosplay was great, too. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a good Princess Bubblegum and Marceline before.

Remember, this is just day one of three. The CCEE runs until Sunday, and I’ll be there tomorrow and Sunday amongst the masses looking for the best cosplay. Be sure to check back then.

My First Six Months with PlayStation Plus

GamingOgre:

Sony’s PlayStation Plus program has been in effect for roughly two years now, and has given away a multitude of games, media, and services to PlayStation Plus subscribers since its inception. With the announcement that next month’s free game would be Rockstar’s legendary Red Dead Redemption, I decided to delve into my experiences with PlayStation Plus over the past six months, and give an overview about the games/services I’ve received. Being a particularly broke gamer, every purchase I make is based on the dollars-to-fun factor, so I’ll have a sentence listing the original retail price and whether or not it would have warranted a purchase.
