DMC: Devil May Cry Features A Not-So-Sexy Version Of A Famous Demon

Kotaku - The DMC: Devil May Cry trailer from E3 showed a hack-and-slash action game set in a dark world where demons/devils control society through media and products. In the game, the main character, Dante, joins forces with an Anonymous-like group called The Order to fight against the demonic rulers. Anyone who played the demo, got to fight one such ruler: The disgusting creature above. But, do you know what its name is?

I wish this site would get banned already. If they can ban HHG for crazy rumors. I dont see why we cant ban Kotaku.

Simon_Brezhnev4299d ago

and why do you care about seeing boobs.

crxss4299d ago

@simon I care about seeing boobs

HammadTheBeast4299d ago

Probably because this article is a fresh piece of flamebait steak. Grilled extra long.

It's obvious they're trying to get a rise out of the new DMC haters, now that the "Ugly, Emo, Teen, Dante" parade is cooling down.

zeeshan4298d ago (Edited 4298d ago )

I don't understand this article at all. What's the point here?

From what I get, they are saying that this game has a villain creature called Succubus and that other games also use this creature as it's a myth and everything and that's it? Perhaps I am missing something...

SilentNegotiator4298d ago

"Why do you even care?"

....because he doesn't want crap sites flooding N4G, perhaps?

It's true that if HHG got banned for his crap , there no reason Kotaku shouldnt be . hell it should have been banned way faster , given their pretense of professionalism .

It's even ridiculous here , how they reported the news about wada's FF Versus twitter , as if they werent concerned , and werent the ones that started the silly and fake rumor to begin with .

Run_bare4298d ago

Agree, how do we ban them ?

WeskerChildReborned4299d ago

Yea i'm tired of seeing Kotaku's bull like everyday i get on here.

ApolloTheBoss4298d ago

Yes. They spread false rumors in order to get hits. Can you even call this Journalism?

sashimi4298d ago (Edited 4298d ago )

They aren't journalist in any sense of the word. They're just people who are too dumb and lazy to get a real job like everyone else. So flamebait stuff = pay the bills lol.

MEsoJD4298d ago

While I agree... HHG went above and beyond false rumors. The guy was cancer... Not a single piece of integrity. A blantant whore. Has Kotaku reached this level? I say nay, but they are sure getting there.

Darrius Cole4298d ago

I don't see how HHG was one bit worse than Kotaku. Making up lies is making up lies. It doesn't matter who you are.

The lastest the example of Kotaku lying about FFvs13 being cancelled when it wasn't is as void of integrity as anything HHG ever did. But this is just the latest example. Kotaku has been doing this crap for years.

MEsoJD4298d ago

@darrius cole

I don't know if you were here around the beginning of N4g, but I was(under a different username) and for the time of HHG. I suggest you do some research as to why HHG was banned from the site. It's not an easy thing to do. I've even had conversation with an angry HHG (and cursing btw) early in because I was questioning his tactics(and in reserved fashion). Let me see if I see have it saved on my old account. :3
Again Kotaku would already be banned if they were doing the alleged things HHG was doing(IMO).

adorie4298d ago

We can clearly see who needs a girlfriend in this comment section.

ALLWRONG4298d ago

Kotaku is a popular website, more popular than N4G.

Anyway what does that have to do with DMC?

DragonKnight4299d ago

Who cares? DmC bastardized the entire franchise and should be burned.

TheBlackSmoke4299d ago (Edited 4299d ago )

Wow only 6 comments in and here we have the obligatory crying about the reboot comment.

edit: because you guys already played it right?

The point is you seem to care an awful lot about a game you have no interest in. The game was revealed 2 years ago and still we have you entitled armchair developers telling us how much this game sucks.

You dont like it, cool story bro. No need to stink up EVERY piece of news about the game with the same drivel. Dont you have something better to do, like whine about mass effect 3 extended cut perhaps?

@sloth: Hahaha Bleach got cancelled. u mad bro?

RyuX194299d ago

It's not his fault that the reboot sucks.

Elda4299d ago (Edited 4299d ago )

@TBS...Well stated,well spoken,well said!!!

You white knights arent even less silly here . Suddenly it's not good to have an opinion on a game because it's not released yet ?

It's hypocrisy , everyone pass judgement on games they love or hate beforehands , and you too have done it at some occasion i'm quite easily sure of it .

"you seem to care an awful lot about a game you have no interest in. "

Ah the whole what talk about it if you dont like it . Well it's obvious the "haters" actually like the franchise , just not what's done with the game so far .

Peace for those that enjoy it , but as much as they can manifest their optimism about it , so can grumpy people .

Like said below , let the haters hate .

crxss4299d ago

Well I've played it and enjoyed it. I also love DMC3 the most but I'm still giving this a shot.

The_Devil_Hunter4299d ago (Edited 4298d ago )

I am from SD, so I actually got to play the game at Comic Con a few weeks ago and well I didnt want to say this but the game plays very well. It feels smooth and responsive as the previous iterations and all the Trickster abilities are there as well but more revamped. The ability to do combos is very accessible yet very complex, I often forget that there wasnt any more lock on button and I found myself constantly pressing R1, and R1 in DmC is dodge. That was very very annoying to me. But the fact that it ACTUALLY feels like Im playing Devil May Cry is fantastic. To do the stinger in this game you have to double tap the analog stick the direction you are aiming for and hit triangle. I am not a fan of this but it definitely works. The Gun shooting seems a little weak though. I have to say I feel like Capcom themselves made the gameplay but claim Ninja Theory were the ones to do so just to give them full credit. Because honestly I do not see Ninja Theory EVER pulling off gameplay like this. Overall I couldnt believe I was actually enjoying it, I was really looking forward to being disappointed. lol.

ChickeyCantor4298d ago

"It's not his fault that the reboot sucks."

But objectively we don't know that yet.
People are seriously overreacting to their nostalgia hormones.

WeskerChildReborned4299d ago

I'm gonna give it a shot cause maybe it'll actually be pretty good but no way will this be better than the original Devil May Cry series.

The_Devil_Hunter4298d ago

Yeah trust me no one will ever match the fantastic Original Devil May Cry series but the fact that it matches their game is simply insane, and im telling ya' it really seems like Capcom did the gameplay themselves and are just trying to give the credit to Ninja.

InTheLab4299d ago

NT has done an AMAZING job at dumbing down and uglying up everything in Devil May Cry. Nice work...

Elda4299d ago

Can't wait to play this interesting reboot of DMC!! Let the haters HATE!!

FFXVI’s Combat Proves It's Time For Another Capcom Remake

With Final Fantasy XVI committing fully to fast-paced action gameplay, it may finally be time for a new remake series of a classic Capcom franchise: Devil May Cry. As the franchise that essentially originated the particular style of 3D action combat that the upcoming Final Fantasy is making heavy use of, Devil May Cry could very well be due for a remake, or even a series of remakes, to address certain flaws and more dated aspects of its classic games, similarly to the popular modern remakes for Capcom's Resident Evil series.

How can combat from one franchise be proof for a subjective opinion on another?

SeTTriP372d ago

Makes no sense to me either

lucian229372d ago

why in the hell would we need a remake of devil may cry when devil may cry 5 was great? We just need devil may cry 6 ; not a remake, enough with the remakes

jambola371d ago

Yeah I mean, no insult to the franchise but it's not like the story or location of the first was so top tier that we need to go back to it

lucian229370d ago

yeah rather progress with story where it is

Pepsi_Man3000372d ago

I'd much prefer we get new games that have such combat. Enough with the remakes. At least move forward if you want more of the same series

Elda372d ago

No remakes. The next installment of DMC would suffice.

CrimsonWing69372d ago

Why not a sequel? Why do we run to "needs a Remake" all the time now. I'd rather have the original and then a brand new entry instead of the original and the original but remade.

I am super surprised that a total remake of the first DMC, in the vein of the latest Resident Evil titles, hasn't been revealed.

MIDGETonSTILTS17403d ago

cbuc1125403d ago (Edited 403d ago )

Exactly...these games don't come out often.

Furesis403d ago

Right, surely there wasn't anything else that was the cause for that...

FallenAngel1984403d ago

DmC released between those titles. Even if it’s its own continuity it still showed Capcom was interested in the series

Capcom is banging out the RE series. I would Love a new Onimusha and Power Stone from Capcom.

thejigisup402d ago

Well sh*t while we're at it let's get a remake of MvC2. Honestly Devil May Cry was one of my favorite games and I really didn't like the tonal shift too much as the series progressed. Now would be a good time to return to DMC 1 and do a soft reboot from there keeping the tone dark. I would also be 100% down for a game based on the story of Sparda.

Fable Co-Creator Says He 'Ripped Off' Devil May Cry to Create the Xbox RPG's World

Fable co-creator Dene Carter turned to Devil May Cry for an idea of scope when developing the 2004 hit action RPG.

CrimsonIdol534d ago

"Look to your peers", "stand on the shoulders of giants", "don't re-invent the wheel". Or in far more blunt down-to-earth British dev terminology: "rip it off" hahaha

Eonjay534d ago

I mean I agree with his sentiment of not reinventing the wheel. Imagine if every physicist, for example, had to derive the equations of relativity from scratch every time they were looking to make a discovery. We would never get anywhere. This isn't the same thing as straight up plagiarism of course.

CrimsonIdol533d ago

Oh yeah, I imagine there would be very few major games developed in the last 20 years that didn't copy things that worked from previous games in terms of structure and design. The blunt language just made me smile. And I guess opens him up to some click-bait titles.
