The staff of The Reverse Enginears - considered the "Masters of the Remix" - decided to tell the story of the evolution of PC games into a fun video of two and a half minutes. The sequence goes from nostalgic Zork, and MULE Lode Runner up Sim City and Prince of Persia (the original) to finally culminate in modern Portal, Diablo III and Crysis 2.
The mind behind Prince of Persia shares his family’s life story as well as his own as a videogame developer in an emotional and very personal book.
Have you ever looked at a modern first-person shooter and wondered "How did we get here?" Wealth of Geeks performs a deep dive into the genre, including some of the most influential games, from the very first FPS from the cross-genre experiences that changed the game entirely.
Who says a dud game can't have a video game comeback?
Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky have to be up there. We're lucky and cursed, equally, to have games that can be updated now. For folks old enough to remember the Sega/SNES into PS1 and even 2 eras, if a game came out that was half baked (*cough*Angel of Darkness*cough*) that was it, no redemption. At the same time, having the option for updates shouldn't be an excuse for half assing games.
Excellent video :)
Using Diablo 3 at the end was devolution though.
Why is "PC Games" in quotes?
It did my heart good to see Heroes of Might and Magic 2 on there.
Why'd it keep jumping back and forth the whole time?
Would have been a lot better if it started with early games and kept moving forward.
Also needs more classics like the original sim city, or even magic carpet.
