Series co-creator Ed Boon says if Injustice: Gods Among Us performs well, NetherRealm's "next step" could be making a game in a different genre.
Mortal Kombat studio NetherRealm Studios has made a name for itself by creating fighting games, but the company wants to branch out. In an interview with the PlayStation Blog, Mortal Kombat co-creator and NetherRealm creative director Ed Boon said if upcoming brawler Injustice: Gods Among Us performs well, the studio could work on a non-fighting game next.
When you think about it, it makes perfect sense. In fact, it's hard to believe nobody has developed this yet. The Boys deserves its own Mortal Kombat-style fighter.
Not sure every brutal tv-series with badass kharacters needs its own fighting game ..or there would be a profitable market for them, but yes.. an MK / Injustice style fighting game
..or maybe one with krazy aerial fighting as well would fit The Boys. And I myself would like that a lot more than seeing Homelander or another kharacter as guest in MK.
idk if there are enough notable characters to make a full game out of. having the star characters appear in mk seems like a better option, imo.
Honestly it should be left untouched. I fear it'll fall into the hands of a developer that would just make some poor effort attempt for a buck. I can't help but picture a game with the likeness of the actors, and shallow/repetitive button smashing gameplay
Not a bad idea. Now I expect the people over at the MK studio will try and get “The Boys” license and charge me $5 for each character I want to use from the boys in the next MK game
Wouldn’t Injustice 3 be better? Evil Superman will always be better than discount evil Superman.
While no official announcement has been made, a NetherRealm dev's work station has seemingly leaked "MK12."
Hope they at least upgrade to Unreal Engine 4 this time.
They are one of the longest user of Unreal Engine 3 till MK11.
Unpopular opinion:
Please go back to how MK2 or UMK3 felt. & bring back test your might. & you don’t need buffed models.
NetherRealm Studios, the developers behind the Mortal Kombat and Injustice franchises, has responded to the allegations of what one former employee referred to as "predatory and abusive behavior."
this is what happens when you hire "woke" people, they tarnish your reputation. stay away from them.
I would like MK for 3ds :)
I want them to work on a non-fighting game. It will show users how terrible developers these guys are. Their games look really fun in the trailers and preview videos but once you play it. It a freaking mess.
They did earlier with MK: Shaolin Monks and it was a decent action adventure game. I wouldn't mind if they make another game like that.
I think they should make a horror game with all the greats.
Chuckie, Jason, Freddy, Michael Myers, PinHead, etc..
Where you can play as these characters, or as the civilian trying to get away from them.
No.
