Top 10 House of the Dead Bosses

BT writes: The House of the Dead series has always held a special place for me. I remember when I came across the first sit-down cabinet of HOTD 2 and stepped behind the curtains to see waves of zombies coming at me. While there are better designed light gun games (and certainly ones with better voice acting), I’ve never had as much fun as just going to an arcade and wasting zombies a plastic magnum or sub-machine gun (or going home and typing them to death). However, the main thing I, and most gamers remember (outside of the voice-acting and lines) is the boss fights. Every boss in the franchise is an entertaining and intense experience that stays with you. So today, we’re honoring ten of the greatest Zombies or mutants to ever grace a monitor.

Top 5 Worst Video Game to Movie Adaptations

"There have been A LOT of video game to movie adaptations, and not many have done that well. A lot of the credit for the terrible adaptations goes to Uwe Boll, a German director who has a lot of the horrible films under his belt. Instead of making this a list of just his films (which can go on and on) I will just put two of his films in this list. I think we all know what number one is, but let’s have some fun along the way. These are all in honor of the recently released (and terrible) film, Pixels." -GamerFitnation

They left off

FarCry
Double Dragon
Street Fighter

Positively horrific "movies" based on video games.

barb_wire3194d ago

Oh it sure did, from the finest maestro of crap in the Universe... Uwe Boll.

His evil depravity knows no bounds.. behold his resume of doom..

He also "made"

In the Name of King

I loved the Mortal Kombat movies back in the day, they still have a special place in my heart, I am a big fan of the series so there may be some blindness!

Blastoise3194d ago

No Resident Evil? They made 5 incredibly bad movies and they're making a 6th!

RiPPn3194d ago

I liked the first one since it loosely followed the game.. I agree though that all the others were terrible.

Uwe Boll admits he's never played a video game

Infamous video game film director, Uwe Boll responded to his critics recently in a video with the German YouTube channel, hyperboleTV. Mr. Boll has heard it all from angry gamers across the land. How could this man tarnish the brilliant writing and stories of games like House of the Dead and Bloodrayne with movies of equally terrible storytelling?

Well according to 'ol Uwey, it's because he just doesn't give a **** about the source material. Licensed properties just tend to come with bigger paychecks for lazy directors.

great comment to make when all you do is videogame to movie adaptations.

randomass1713530d ago

Is it too late to call this man a colossal fool? No wonder his adaptations are so faithless! :/

Godmars2903530d ago

What? He got tax break money ala a Producers scheme. Purposely made bad movies.

It that some people will actually defend them for being "good" that gets me.

Army_of_Darkness3530d ago

I don't think he has ever watched a good movie either....

Volkama3529d ago

I think the bigger problem here is that he has never watched any of his own movies.

Summons753530d ago

Yeah, the only movie I enjoyed of his was the Postal movie but that's because like the game it didn't take itself seriously and there was an amazing scene where they make fun of him and his horrible movies.

" Uwey, it's because he just doesn't give a shit about the source material "

Like Hollywood then...because they don't give a shit about the source material. Doesn't matter how many times the writer/director comes out and tries to make out that they are "respecting" it, it comes out, we watch it and it ends up being so bloody obvious that they haven't.

"Some directors like to entrench themselves in their source material, often pouring hours of research and care into their project"

I highly doubt they do, they probably watch a few trailers and gameplay segments and that's it.

I mean hell Michael Fassbender is doing Assassins Creed and he says it's going to respect the source material, despite being a fantastic actor I've been burnt too many times to actually believe that it's going to be good. I like him don't get me wrong but he's even said he's not a gamer.

Is it that hard for someone to go "Gee you know what, for years people have tried straying away from the source material, why don't WE try to do the opposite and stick as closely as we can to it"

isntchrisl3530d ago

Many directors do in fact do a lot of research into the source material... just not with video game films.

Neonridr3530d ago

tell that to Peter Jackson. If ever there was a man who poured over every bit of information there was on Middle Earth it was him.

Testfire3530d ago

That's very true, but LOTR and the Hobbit are based on books that had heart and soul so it's easier to get an idea of the characters, especially when the books are so good. A lot of video game characters on the other hand are 1 dimensional and sometimes not even that. So the basis to start is already a flawed one.

Neonridr3529d ago

I can agree with that. A lot more source material to work with when we are talking about LOTR..

LightDiego3530d ago

I would be surprised if he played.

Dark_Overlord3530d ago
