THQ made a stupid mistake by dropping Devil's Third and keeping a generic shooter like Homefront

Reborn4315d ago

I wouldn't drop both. Homefront has potential. Hopefully, the sequel does use that. Devils Third could've helped them recoup. However, I guess they looked at as too much of risk, with their finances etc. New IPs.. danger.

Well for them.

Godmars2904315d ago

And yet sad the way things are looking there'll be a Homefront 5 before there's a Devil's Third 1.

morganfell4315d ago

I warned people 4 months ago THQ was canning Devil's Third. 4 Months.

The first time I stated what was going on nobody said anything. Then in a later series of articles it became ugly.

I was laughed at, jabbed at, disagreed, told I was an uninformed troll.

http://n4g.com/news/967193/...

The fact is Itagaki is still trying to party and jetset with money the way he used to when Tecmo tolerated such actions. he had a contract on a golden platter and he blew it.

nukeitall4314d ago

@morganfell:

You spelled doom and gloom, yet Devil's Third is still throdding along.

You made a bunch of claim as facts with nothing to back up and amazingly, YOU JUST DID IT AGAIN!

What sort of proof do you have Itagaki is partying?

Based on the wording, it seems from start to the splitting of THQ and Valhalla seemed very amicable.

DivineAssault 4315d ago

Itagaki is a bad ass lol.. I wana smoke cigarettes & drink @ the club w him & some of them japanese chicks

DwightOwen4315d ago

Good. Now we know Devil's Third will kick ass.

KMCROC544315d ago

Tomonobu Itagaki and his Valhalla team, why not bring this game over to MSG & Spencer see about getting u an exclusive deal plus a gig leading your team in developing a game for Xbox.

JoeSchmoh4315d ago

The Devil's Third and Anarchy Reigns are two games that give my gaming library variety, because everything out today is an Online FPS game. These are Online Hack N Slash games and they're produced by some REAL game PRODUCERS! And what happens? They're both delayed. Oh well..

SamPao4315d ago

If devil's third is anything like the platinum games's games, ITS A MUST BUY!!! now Im hyped up

Talk about a kick in the nutter butters

naruga2670d ago (Edited 2670d ago )

this game creator payed his idiocy to change the development for exclusive release on a dying hopeless console with the best way ....the game was generally good i liked it and was the closest thing to a hardcore Ninja Gaiden we could get on new consoles ....but literaly its creator was idiot as f..k to undermine his game (it was obviously downgraded for Wii u) and release it exclusively on a underpowered system for some cash, destroyed his name in a moment

rjason122669d ago (Edited 2669d ago )

Oh boo hoo. Someone didn't get a game to come to their system.

@Edmix
Believe me I know the feeling haha, just pushing out a similar statement many others make, just cause.

ShaunCameron2669d ago (Edited 2669d ago )

@ rjason

Apparently.

@ XisThatKid

How did they ask for it? You know the company responsible for the engine used to make the OG game went under forcing Itagaki to scrap it and start over, right? Not to mention THQ, its original publisher, eventually withdrawing support before going under. As for it becoming a Wii U exclusive, Nintendo was the one willing to help Itagaki with the funding to finish making the game.

_-EDMIX-_2669d ago

This is easily one of the stupidest investments I've ever seen any company ever make for an exclusive by a third party. I'm surprised you think the game is any good at all because I don't really believe the Wii U made this game bad, believe it was going to be bad regardless of where it was. The Wii U has a handful of really great games please do not blame the hardware for how crappy this game actually is. To my understanding when you create a game for a specific piece of Hardware your job is to adapt. So do not blame the hardware for why this game was horrible blame the developer for even downgrading the game in the first place as opposed to adapting to their situation. If you have to downgrade a game so significantly that it begins to affect the design and quality you're probably not supposed to be downgrading it in the first place to such a platform. I don't blame the platform in this respect I blame the developer because they chose to continue despite knowing the hardware differences. The regular Wii U exclusives don't have that problem because they were made to actually work on that platform...

@rjason- could be because it sounds to me like he basically likes the game but he's angry at the decision of it being exclusive somewhere else

XisThatKid2669d ago (Edited 2669d ago )

I have not felt so selfish about a game before. I like many waited and waited patiently since this games release and out of no where Wii U exclusive. At the time i didn't have a Wii u and honestly i wanted it for ps3 but that never happened nor for 4. Anyway i honestly am glad this happened. Save for the innocent dev and people involved But i never wanted a game to fail so badly. Not to mention when i finally played it i think it sucks imho. I'm fine with exclusives but when a game's announced for your console or platform of choice then retracted they're asking for it.

bouzebbal2669d ago

he had no big name to start with.. this same guy did the same to DOA4 and Ninja Gaiden for 360 and in the end he talks s### about Team Ninja about NG3 and DOA5. He's a loser !

blackblades2670d ago

Ikr it looked interesting in the beginning before it became an nintendo exclusive. Don't know what happened when it became an exclusive.

_-EDMIX-_2669d ago

Who knows , it was probably always going to be bad.

Ravenor2669d ago

A lot happens when a game gets developed. A proof of concept demo or pre rendered video being received well doesn't necessarily equate to a game game being good.

BLKxSEPTEMBER2669d ago

I'm still looking to buy a copy at a reasonable price.

ocelot072669d ago

Depends on where you are located. Here in the UK you can pick this up for around £12.

BLKxSEPTEMBER2669d ago

I'm in California. I haven't seen a hard copy yet.

xMANB3ARP1G2669d ago

bro you wont they made so few copies they are mostly locked in cages atm in ppls collections waiting for the value to skyrocket.

BLKxSEPTEMBER2669d ago

Yeah that's what I figured.

xMANB3ARP1G2669d ago

i only say that because im in the same boat all physical copies near me were scooped up day one and ebay had a field day

alfcrippinjr2669d ago

and this is why we should not support nintendo any more
they done it with the wii and they killed the ds off for no reason.

total bad for business

ShaunCameron2669d ago

Um. You can still get the main D3rd game, albeit digitally. The only thing they killed here was the online multiplayer.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory2669d ago

Wait why are peopole acting like they care now? You didn't when it was released.

gangsta_red2669d ago

Yea, I haven't heard a peep or a whisper of this game since its debut.

gamer78042669d ago

its the principle of it, i don't like seeing any games shut down so quickly

Chaos_Order2669d ago

I don't think Itagaki is crazy for making a Wii U exclusive.

I think he's crazy for pushing out a half baked, flawed as all hell, generic gore fest on the Wii U without making use of any of the console's specific features, and throwing his toys out of the pram when people criticise it.

The ups, downs and future of Tomonobu Itagaki's Devil's Third

Tomonobu Itagaki, outspoken former leader of Tecmo's Team Ninja and current leader of Valhalla Game Studios, has spent the last eight years of his life working on the action game Devil's Third.

PhoenixUp2717d ago

Sucks to spend eight years on a project only to have it flop

MilkMan2717d ago

Love the interview. He's a great developer and I liked Devils Third.
