Yoichi Wada was asked about when the Final Fantasy VII remake will come to fruition. His controversial answer got a lot of people questioning whether or not the company has any vested interest in remaking their most popular game.
We at Twinfinite ask the question of whether a thing like this is even possible while still living up to everyone's expectations.
The tiny green slasher villain returns in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and is as frightening as ever.
The way it was handled was so dumb. One shots in melee...your teammates are to ostupid to get away from its attack. So you most often end up alone in a certain fight.
Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?
Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

It is easily possible... Just don't go overboard with it. Give it "presentable" graphics on par with or maybe a bit better than that of say Crisis Core. Have the backgrounds redone (NOT CHANGED). Spruce up some attacks, add new materia, add new places, add new enemies/bosses, just as extras, add more chocobos/mini-games at the Golden Saucer. Don't touch the story, don't touch the dialog, no need for voice acting either unless it's really necessary and they can provide good ones.
Most of those things are optional, just make the character models and places look better (we do NOT need it looking as good as FFXIII. Just as long as it's around Late-PS2 quality).
Can they just make the bloody game
I want a FF8 remake...that isn't going to happen untill they do a FF7 remake....great, FF8 fans have to wait even longer.
As long they are bringing FF5 and FF6 to the 3DS...Im pretty sure one day FF7 will be done one day.
I wonder if they are not remaking FF7 because they would want to make it a multiplat. But sony holds some publishing rights or something?
a sequel would atleast be better
Calling it "Final Fantasy HD" makes me think a XIII-style CGI-fest version of FF7 in with Advent Children's aesthetic.
That's not a good idea.
A simple PSN/Vita/3DS remake in the vein of Chrono Trigger DS would be much better. Rewrite the script a little bit (and re-translate it), maybe add in a few sidequests or whatnot, a new game plus feature, and replace all of the 2D art.
And then also either replace the (awful) 3D models with sprites, or better 3D models. I'd argue for the former over the latter, but there you go.
It wouldn't cost much money to produce, could be sold on EVERY current gaming platform relatively easy, and would rake in an enormous profit.
It's kind of a no-brainer.
So, of course, Square Enix won't do it.
