It’s that time again where the finest athletes in the world square up against each other in a race for the gold medal across a series of track, field, pool and gym based events and, unsurprisingly, there’s a tie-in game to go along with it. Those of you of a certain age will no doubt have fond memories of joystick waggling days gone by, wasting countless hours trying to beat your personal best across each event, and it’s you who’ll most enjoy what’s on offer here from Sega in London 2012 – The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games."
With London 2012 now completely finished, Dave Sadd takes a brief look at the parallels between gaming and The Games for Pixels or Death and asks...why not Olympic gaming?
4 years ago since Beijin 2008, SEGA released this year’s London 2012 Olympics video game, hoping to capture the intensity of each event and atmosphere of the Olympics. The London 2012 Olympics is an historic moment for Great Britain, so will the Olympics video game do the same for the gaming industry?
An Olympics game that isn't mediocre!
Ah, the Olympics. The finest international sporting event that comes around every year and fills two weeks of our summer with excitement and anticipation as we cheer our nation on. Unfortunately an Olympics game also comes around every four years to try and share the triumph leading to utter disappointment and a game that can be described as mediocre at best.
Watching the Olympics really makes me want to play this... but I'm not spending $50 to do it. I'll wait for it to hit the < $20 pile.
