Leviathyn.com writer Blake puts together his dream team of Final Fantasy characters. Did your favorite make the cut?
Gary Green said: We’re finding ourselves in a similar position with the Pixel Remaster edition of Final Fantasy IV as we were with Final Fantasy III since, once again, we’ve received a slightly upscaled, more vibrant port of the original game when there’s already an expanded 3D remake available. As such, we’re playing a game which, even after its long-awaited release, still lives very much in the shadow of its remake.
If only they didn't screw ps4 owners over with a physical release. I'd have ran through this in a heartbeat.
The first one I played, it was the one that made me fall in love with JRPGs and is still my favorite to this day. A masterpiece
Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?
Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.
Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida is interested in working on a brand new Final Fantasy Tactics game.
Not from you.
Knowing how you handled FF16 by trying to make it appeal to non-fans and changing the entire gameplay design I can see you changing Tactics to appeal to non-fans.
If they’re going to do this please give it to someone who wants to keep the game and genre in tact.
I wouldn't mind a new FF Tactics longs they keep the tactical elements of Tactics in it as well as a very in depth story. Which FF Tactics years ago has by far one of the best stories in the series.
I'd get rid of Celes and put in a Red Mage to back up both offensive and defensive magic positions. I think that's a bit more helpful so if your two healers are keeping the pace, the third isn't just sitting there because he/she can't really heal anyone when they are topped off.
No dedicated summoner? No one whose primary purpose is using their special attack?
I don't really disagree with who's on the list, but I think I'd have a few more slots. For example:
Rikku(FFX version), who's great at acquiring and using resources for the party. Nothing sucks worse than not having what you really need in your inventory.
Rinoa(FFVIII), Squall(FFVIII), Cloud(FFVII), solely for their best limit breaks: Invincible Moon, Lionheart(preceded by Renzokuken), and Omnislash. Making your party untouchable for a given period of time is an obvious boon, and the damage dealt, along with the shock-and-awe factor, of Cloud and Squall's attacks would be demoralizing to enemies and inspiring to allies.
Yuna(FFX) as a dedicated summoner. She may not have Knights of the Round or Eden, but beasts like Pain and the Magus Sisters make her a one-woman army in her own right.
