HD Collections vs. Your Wallet. FIGHT!

Virtual consoles, HD remakes and re-releases across multiple platforms are put out all the time. These versions of old games are just a quick cash in for publishers that could be using the time and money to make new IP's.

I would pay $100 dollars for a SOCOM1-CA HD Remake...it simply kicks the **** out online shooters today. It's better in every facet. Those who have played it know. Amazing how a game that is 8 years old was years ahead of what is out today. Games today have yet to even implement features that SOCOM did.

Ravenor4334d ago

lol what?

If this were true, then Confrontation would have actually been accepted. It had the classic lobbies, the gameplay was closer to S2 then S3 and they added lots of little things to bring it ever closer to what S2 was.

A HD remake of the PS2 socoms is a waste of time.

Commodore4334d ago

Clearly you're not a vet because we don't believe we've seen a true SOCOM on the PS3. Confrontation was a nice attempt that fell way short. Nevermind the fact that the mechanics were terrible and it ONLY HAD 7 MAPS (as opposed to S2, which had 22). I was bored of it in a day.

Not sure how you can say SOCOM HD is a waste of time when it would easily sell 2,000,000+ copies. Ico and Sly HD have barely sold 1,000,000 copies (combined)...but clearly they aren't a waste of time. Not sure how it's a waste of time when it is the highest voted game on the Share Blog.

Sorry us SOCOM vets are sick of First Person Bulls**t. But whatever, your entitled to your opinion, however wrong it may be. It's a guaranteed retail success and SONY is too stupid to realize it.

bwazy4334d ago

I love HD collections. It gives me a chance to play amazing games that I missed up on growing up.

I never got to play the MGS series, I never got to play the Sly-Cooper series, I never got to play Shadow of a Colossus + Ico, I never got to play ALOT of games that I wanted to. Why? Because I was young and neither me or my parents could afford such things, so now that I'm older and can afford (and easily find these collections), I think its awesome.

So for those trying to take that away from me and MILLIONS of other gamers, **** you royally.

mcbrid554334d ago

I do agree that hd collections can be a valuable resource for new gamers. What I was trying to say was that the companies are not doing it for us thpugh. They are doing it to make a butt load of money

bwazy4334d ago (Edited 4334d ago )

THEY ARE?!?!?! Wow you'd swear that they were an organization or some sort of company whose primary purpose is to make money in order to fund other projects or something absolutely bizarre like that.

How silly of I.

mcbrid554334d ago

If they where putting money into new IP's then that eould be awesome. Last time I checked there were not a ton of them though

slayorofgods4334d ago

That just makes me miss the concept of backwards compatibility. Sometimes I really wish the PS3 was able to keep it with ps2 games, such a great library there.

dubt724334d ago

I finally bought and started to play the metal gear hd collection, and it is terrible! Ridiculously long cutscenes with bad voice acting and horrible controls in areas you actually play for a few seconds. What a waste of $30, smdh...

jon12344334d ago (Edited 4334d ago )

horrible controls and bad voice acting is your own opinion and your free to say what you'd like, but saying you only play a few seconds? seriously ? come on dude you know that statement is full of sh**

dubt724334d ago

Straight garbage. Splinter cell was a much better series.

jon12344334d ago (Edited 4334d ago )

again... your opinion , but what you said is complete and utter bullshit...

dubt724334d ago (Edited 4334d ago )

Looks like I struck a nerve... I played very little and watched a whole lot. That was my experience, so you can shut your piehole. The game was in for an hour, and I played maybe 5 minutes of it, shot an alligator for meat, and shut off the game. That was all I could stomach.

jon12344333d ago

haha you didnt strike anything... i could care less what you think of it... anyways you should probably sell it maybe you can get 5 bucks back?? haha

Thats interesting. My buddy swears by the Metal Gear collection

BlaqMagiq244334d ago (Edited 4334d ago )

I LOLed when you said Splinter Cell was a better series. Wow dude you play MGS for 5 minutes and say Splinter Cell is better? How bout you play the entire series and then say that?

Father Murder X4334d ago

HD remakes are only good when Sony makes them or they are a remake of a game that has strong playstation roots. anyone else that makes a HD remake is simply milking the franchise because they don't have any real exclusive or new ips.

Tuxedo_Mask4334d ago

I bought the Ico Collection and I don't regret it one bit. I didn't get a chance to play the originals on the PS2, so I'm enjoying them for the first time on the PS3.

If you're wanting more PSVR 2 support, you should probably buy all of these games.

Speak with your wallet!

Profchaos41d ago

Bit rich to have to buy games you don't want because you want Sony to support the expensive headset they sold us which cost as much as the console it runs on beyond paying third partys to support it.
Seriously in terms of first party we have horizon on day 1 and a gt 7 vr mode.

They seemingly have made little effort to support it beyond paying Capcom to make re games in VR or a second party studio to make firewall which was mismanaged.

I'm a day 1 psvr2 user and the only thing I'm excited for right now is PC support.

I commented recently this bespoke VR game development model we have right now clearly doesn't work

crazyCoconuts41d ago

On the one hand I feel like there's been plenty of smaller non-AAA games to play and occupy me as a supplement to my flat screen gaming.
But I agree that Sony has done nothing to elevate this beyond the niche it's in and into the mainstream where it would be economical to create AAA games for it.

Babadook741d ago (Edited 41d ago )

Most of these games are worth owning for most people; I own all but 2 of them in fact. So I agree with kevco33. I think you're crazy if you downplay this list quite frankly. Sony can't keep funding software if people don't buy any of it, the ball is squarely in OUR court.

Sony has spent a lot on 3rd party stuff this gen like RE.

phoenixwing41d ago (Edited 41d ago )

Saving up for the headset is my first hurdle. Let alone buying games I don't want lol

mudakoshaka41d ago

People downvoting you for not having enough finances...what a world we live in, haha

phoenixwing41d ago (Edited 41d ago )

@mudako
They feel affronted at the very thought that I don't plunk down 500 immediately lol I have a little over 900 games in my backlog I've been buying games instead of hardware ever since I got my PC and ps5. I just don't know if vr is really for me honestly. Every time I have a couple hundred allocated to video games it makes more sense to buy a bunch of flat games instead of vr ones

mudakoshaka41d ago

I have 9 out of these 10 games. I try to buy all the VR games I like to support the advancement of VR!

TheEroica40d ago (Edited 40d ago )

I spoke with my wallet after watching the first headset get weak support. Easy pass until Sony earns my money. Feel bad for those who parted with 500 bucks, falling for the hype that Sony was actually gonna support this thing.

Neonridr41d ago

I own 7 of these titles off the list, lol.

NotoriousWhiz41d ago

I'm trying to decide if it's worth holding onto my psvr 2. I enjoy what it has currently, but it seems unlikely to get anything else. Might be better off just waiting for something with more support if that ever comes.

Profchaos41d ago

As a fellow psvr2 owner the question seemingly comes down to do you own a PC.

I think I'm all in I have a habit to hold onto my systems anyhow I still have my psvr1 to hell I still have my NES.

But while it's still worth something yeah you could sell it and if Sony turns the ship around you should be able to buy another one for less than you soldmit for I feel like we won't see any fix for the headset for the next 2 years rumours show that Sony has no current first party VR games in active development after they closed London studios

The whole psvr2 situation has left me feeling a little burnt on PlayStation as a whole to be honest. The first psvr felt experimental but it was supported far more than this superior headset

MIDGETonSTILTS1741d ago

GT7 surprised me, because I hate racing games, but i poured 100 hours into it way too quickly.

I’m looking forward to the Metro VR game this year, and I hope that WW2 dogfighter game releases eventually.

talocaca41d ago

I have most of them 😅

Waiting for a sale on Synapse and Arizona Sunshine 2.....also Metro coming this year looks great.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Was Devastated With Bugs A Month Before Launch

The Resident Evil 4 remake's director has revealed in a recent documentary that the game was riddled with bugs in its final month before launch.

Rebel_Scum57d ago

Not a big surprise really. All games are pretty rough until the very end and everything is released with bugs regardless of how the consumer quantifies it as being “polished.”

CrimsonWing6957d ago

That’s sort of how game development or any kind of software development goes. Looking for bugs and debugging, QA, and trying to scramble and polish everything before a deadline’s up.
