Human Element Dev Ceases Operations, Development on Hiatus

Remember Human Element? The class-based, zombie apocalypse game from Robert Bowling who served as the creative strategist and community manager for Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty franchise? As it turns out, Bowling’s studio Robotoki has shut down.

SaveFerris3418d ago

I guess Robotoki now lacks the 'Human Element' eh?

I'll get me coat.

Mikefizzled3417d ago

Shouldn't have given such a different impression of your game then. You described it as a gritty visceral apocalypse survival based on keeping the human element alive. Instead you made a cartoony Mad Max multiplayer shooter. I cannot understand what on earth happened.

qwertyone3417d ago

Well i guess this is a good thing, what they showed and what the described was not even close to each other.

telekineticmantis3417d ago

I thought their game looked interesting.

tigertron3417d ago

That sucks, it looked promising...

Sevir3417d ago

I guess. I feel bad the studio shut down, but the vision for the game changed completely. Definitely wasn't what it was originally announced to be.

He should have stayed at Activision.

3-4-53418d ago

* So he had bad ideas for COD at Activision, Bad Ouya ideas, can't get his own game going because his studio is shut down.....

Maybe he shouldn't make games.

famoussasjohn3417d ago

More like he should have stuck with the original idea he had for his game before completely revamping it that he advertised himself. It was supposed to be a somewhat dark survival game that was then changed to something else entirely different.

ScorpiusX3418d ago

Maybe see if he can get ID@Xbox to help or get Spencer to fund or buy .

Blank3418d ago

Eee! Well that was a stint that went for few years for nothing. He shouldve not put some of his eggs in the Ouya basket, but ill still wish him well hell I think he should just go back to community stuff. He tried riding on his "im an ex call of duty dude" im guessing the publishers just werent interested much less other gamers because how many zombie games are out there??

Robert Bowling’s first Kickstarter game, The Adventures of Dash, fails

Robotoki, the creators of the upcoming zombie survival game Human Element, failed to get The Adventures of Dash fully funded on Kickstarter. The game was a 2D platform-puzzler where you played various dreams of a narcoleptic boy.

Didnt he get any of that sweet cod money when he left?

Zha1tan4073d ago (Edited 4073d ago )

You would be surprised how little money devs under big publishers like activision and EA actually see for their games.

ijust2good4073d ago

This guy earned millions...why the hell does he need kick-starters

kwyjibo4073d ago

Richard Garriott is a multi-millionaire who has enough money for a holiday in space. He's still running a Kickstarter.

It's about viral advertising. You're not a patron of the arts, you're just pre-ordering a game.

Jurat4073d ago (Edited 4073d ago )

I think he was just following in the footsteps of previous developers who’ve leveraged a huge Twitter following to garner mountains of cash without actually risking anything themselves.

Rather than spending time making a game then releasing it free, then developing a paid version with regular updates, all the while building a community, they just reach out to Twitter and say, “I’ve kinda got an idea to do something cool, can I have a million dollars?”

Grap4073d ago

wow he needed 400K for this game!!!!!!!!!!!!

artdafoo4073d ago

No wonder it failed, there's no killstreaks !

nutcrackr4073d ago

Should have called it "The Adventures of Dash and his Pave Low"

BanBrother4073d ago

If he was apart of a game that had a loyal following, rather than the casual CoD crowd he would have had more luck.

Looking out for Human Element still.
